Does anyone know if it is possible to take the skid from a '98 Ski doo and bolt it under my '96 Formula Z? It seems the '96 suspension was modified the next season and that is making it difficult for me to find the right parts when things need replacing. The suspension used under the '98s was used for many years so that would solve the problem.
Has anyone attempted this? My plan is to yank the skid out and either rebuild or upgrade it. Whichever seems more practical. Advice welcome!! Thanks.

Not sure on the exact skid specs but the main constraint is the width of the tunnel, if it fits and you can make the proper spacers if needed then you shouldn't have a problem you just have to make sure to measure the original mounting holes for the 98 and transfer them on each side Equally so its straight that is the most important part.
I have done that swap before on a sled that had the "ARM" suspension. I converted it to an SC-10. Had to buy the rear mounting brackets and rivet them in myself and re-drill the front holes. If you have what I think you have, its the same thing. Does your current suspension have 2 coil over shocks in the rear? That is what they named the "ARM" and it was a real piece of krap! Always needs bolts tightened and eats the boogie wheels. If you do this swap, you should look at a same body sled with the same suspension that you are going to and do some very careful measuring. Do your homework and it will turn out fine.
P.S. Check your track clips and replace as needed, mine also for some reason kept peelin the clips off the track.

I don't have the "ARM" suspension. That was the '95 version. My brothers '94 Grand Touring has that suspension. He doesn't have the bogey wheel problem, but he doesn't use it that much either!
Mine has one rear shock in the center with another piece behind it that looks like a small shock, but acts like a hinge. Could this be one of the early SC-10's?
A friend of mine has a 2000 Formula Deluxe and I can see the upgrade in the suspension! ( insert "jealous" smiley here!)
My basic problem is that I want new shocks and all of the parts catalogs I have do not list the rear shock for this sled. That leads me to believe it was an idea that didn't last. Of course, this is my first time doing suspension work so it's not like I know what I'm talking about either!!
I guess I'll keep checking. Thanks for the input-always good to hear from you. By the way, I think the last time we touched base you were having some "health issues" ......How you doin'? (Feel free to PM)
