2008 renegade recall

There is a drive shaft recall on all 08 xp models I'm sure you all heard of. My question is....I recently bought a 08 renegade and its needs the recall BUT the seller told me that the sled had a race update done to the drive shaft. What are your thoughts should I leave it alone or have the new one installed.
The gentlemen I boguht the sled from said that the race update was stronger then the new one they would put in. (I guess the shaft was drilled halfway out and rewelded by a race shop) \

I'd think that you'd want the part that was designed to be better to be put into the sled.
