I am looking at getting a new sled. I am debating between a 1998 arctic cat zrt 600 or a 1999 yamaha vmax sx 600. The arctic cat has 2,000 miles on it and is studded. The owner is asking $1,900 for it. The yamaha has 5,500 miles on it and the owner is asking $1,750 for it. Any information on the sleds would be great. Thank you!!

Personally i would go with the yamaha. They are some of the most reliable sleds. The SX might still be a twin which may not be as fast but usualy sees better MPG and is cheaper to repair.

However, if you are looking for speed more then lower cost of ownership etc... I would consider the ZRT as I have heard they can be pretty fast.

The yamaha is a triple though. I do want a sled that doesn't break down a lot though. Have zrt's had a problem with breaking down?

What are you looking to do with the sled, Trails, Ditch Banger etc...

Rough trails will make you want a good suspension which most yamaha's don't really have honestly. The ZRT's are supose to be fairly reliable however i don't have any actual experience it should have a better suspension as well. The 600 Red Head triple Yamaha's Are VERY reliable as well.

For my money, I would spend the extra $150.00 and get the Cat. Less miles and for sure the better suspension. The Doo will give You better gas mileage if that is important to You. Either way You will be playing in the SNOW. Life is great.

Snowmobiles aren't really all that different, miles doesn't matter, look at the condition of each thoroughly (spend about 15 min on each sled looking for wear). if you can contact the owner and see how they treated it, also all the snowmobiles Ive bought the first owner kept a record of everything they did.

if both are in really good cond' go with the Cat.
