    New to the forum

    Hello everyone,
New to the snowtracks forum. This is my first message. I have a 03 polaris xc 600 & a 97 yamaha vmax 500. Ride mostly in up michigan. east, central & west side. Try to get out 4 trips of a season & generally put on 2000 miles a season. Have been reading this website for years & finally registered this week. Any ideas (other than a hand gernade) on how to get decent mileage out of the vmax? This thing is a pig on gas. Generally 8 mpg or less. At least this season it won't cost a small fortune in gas to run it. Wish I could replace it but as little riding I do, it's just not financally feasible.

They come fat from the factory you can jet her down just be careful, there are specs up on totallyamaha as far as what to run. You should hit around 10-14 without risking reliability at all. You should also check over the clutching and such as they may be worn causing more work for the motor then needed.

not to much you can do they are nice sleds, but they are thirsty. My buddie has had a few different v max sleds and he always said the same thing. But like you said fuel prices are down.

Last Year the gasoline prices were near $3.50 a gallon. Looks like this year the price could be near the $2.00 mark. That should help the V-Max mileage problem. If You are looking for more miles between fillups, have You considered a Tour Buddy. I have a Polaris 700 that drinks a lot of fuel and I have been thinking about adding a Tour buddy to the back of the sled. Enjoy Your rides this winter and THINK SNOW!!
