I work at a ford dealership in the body shop and its getting so busy we cant keep up! We always start getting busy when snow starts flying and the roads get alittle icy. Winter is our busy time we die in the summer.

After beeing off for 3 almost 4 months i finaly got a job on the pipe line working for US Pipe. Sounds like we are alternating 6 day week then 7 day week and all 12 hour days. But as far as acctual work i work about 1 hour a day. What they pay me to do is a JOKE. But the last few days i earned my money having to stand out in this weather for the day. I should have this job till March-ish. Then after that back to the hall to wait for a job. Unless they ask me to go to MN for another big pipe.
Sitting in San Antonio, Tx. for a couple days and, getting paid to do it.
Still working.
The boss called me this morning. Said not to worry. Always something in the fire.
Interesting thread, so I guess I will throw mine out there too. I work at a fertilizer plant in central Illinois. I get to play with all their toys and they pay me. I run a terragator in the fall/winter, spreading dry fert and lime. On the windy or rainy days, fix everything that broke when we were running, paint and do the stupid stuff. During the spring/summer, I start out in the gator spraying 28 and all the preplant garb, then switch to a highboy sprayer, killin weeds and bugs n stuff. I have to say its the coolest job I ever had. Pay isn't the greatest but I'm always doing sumthin different and I like that alot!!
I work for a Public Safety Department as a Patrol Sergeant, 18 + years. I have a great Chief who lets me take off on a snowmobile trip at a moments notice. Due to the poor economic situation here in Michigan I do not foresee a slow down in work . . .
I'm in IT working for as a contractor for Allstate, should be employeed for awhile. They are just starting to do datacenter move/consolidations, so at least until that project is over..
Should keep me employeed thru the snowmobile season, so I can take my trips up north and play in the snow.
I know 2 people that can't sell their houses, and 1 of them is getting hours cut at work.
Not working since july. I'm a plumber in Madison, and also install medical gas systems.
Still working here in Flat Rock. We build the Mustang and the Mazda 6. I'm not a production worker, so I work even if the plant is down. I still get OT but it has tapered off a little. I have 5 people in my family who have lost homes in the last 6 months, 3 of them lost jobs also. Last weeekend I moved my neice, her husband and their dog into my house because they lost jobs and the home in the "economic downturn" as they call it in DC. I wasn't about to let them go to a shelter, we had an open bedroom after my nephew moved out in September after staying with us for 3 years. I'm happy to help out when I can and I know they appreciate it. That's why I don't mind doing it. I just hope for the sake of this country that things start to level off and turn around soon.
God bless the troops, and God bless all the people who are struggling through these tough times. Hang in there, gang.
Still work'n the pits and slide'n down the Dinosaur at the end of the day...
