Clutch Problems Maybe?

my 98 polaris indy 500

It will get up to about 20 - 25mph and thats all it will go.

The tach reads almost 7 grand.

Does this mean my clutches arent working correctly.

I cleaned the carbs, adjusted my driven clutch all the way up.

Could it be the drive clutch has a weak spring that isnt clamping the belt tight enough.

it seems the motor is pushing out the power so i dont think it is a motor problem.

look at the sheave surfaces(where the belt sides ride) they should be polished completely, if not that clutch needs to be looked at. Also make sure the secondary is free to open up corrosion can create a problem and hang up its free movement. My$.02

the belt could also be worn out, if u have a spare put that one on and try it
