What's your top speed now? You're pretty limited with your options. Yes, you may be able to go faster, but you will sacrifice performance in other areas. A 488 isn't exactly a lake burner, but it is a nice trail sled. Clutch it, and gear it.
I dont know my speed, but it isn't enough.I dont wont to get crazy I know it will take away the bottom but I would like 10 or so more.
Something about this thread doesn't add up. Got a wrecked sled, want it to go faster, don't know how fast it goes.
Sounds like it already went too FAST

Funny!
I have a 2005 supersport 550 changed the gears from 19/39 to 25/35 I went from a top speed of 65 to a top speed of 71.
Thanks a lot that was what I was asking about, did it hurt the bottom very much?
Jim
if you have all those repairs, and want to upgrade the speed.. just buy a new sled with like a 600 motor or a newer 500.. spend ~$2,000 and you should be good to go
I agree with buying a new sled..I once asked the same question when I had an
04 CLASSIC 500. I drove it for 1.5 years then I went bigger. Traded it on a 2002 Polaris XC800SP. Went back 2 years; but faster !!!!!!! can get 110+mph now.
I'm not picking fights here, but I get a kick out of people that think their sled goes as fast as the speedo says they're going. I ran into a guy that was bragging about his 800 going 120, stock, I laughed.
who was that guy awhile back, said his 440 was dooin like 140, I agree some people just don't realize that speedo's aren't all that accurate. (I am not saying that an 800 modded can not reach those speeds).
