Exclamation Muzzleloader Season could change Vilas County SnoMo Trail Opening

The results of the March 25th meeting with the Vilas County Forestry Committee resulted in a denial of the Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance request to return to a December 1st opening date in our county snow conditions permitting. THAT MEANS IF THE MUZZLELOADER SEASON DURING CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR WEEK HAPPENS VILAS COUNTY TRAILS CAN'T OPEN. At the meeting the Forestry Committee stated that they would not open the trails. After the Forestry Committee Meeting in an interview with the media they have said they will revisit this issue if it passes.

April 13-Conservation Congress Hearing-Held in all 72 Counties at 7PM. It is very important that Snowmobilers attend their local county meeting. There are 2 questions proposing a Muzzle Loader Gun season during the Christmas Holidays. If this would take effect snowmobile trails would not be able to open until AFTER THE CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR HOLIDAY in Vilas County.-Vilas County Location-Sayner Community Center

Hey guys and Ladies we really need to attend this meetings. Im going to the one here in Outagamie if any else is going to the one in Outagamie county let me know we could meet up before. This would mean no riding between Christmas and New Years and this is a yearly family trip for me and my family. Remember last year and the year before when we had all that snow and couldn't ride before the 15th of Dcember and how angry everyone was and voiced there opinions on here well imagine that being moved to after January 1st almost a whole month of riding please step up and voice your feelings. Good post Holly

    Muzzleloading season

Wisconsin Snowmobiling Residents; This is Your chance to be heard. The last few years, the snow has arrived early in the month of December and been gone very early in March. If We lose all of December to hunting, there may be only two months to ride. Big investment in equipment for only two months. We also need to think about the Mom & Pop business places that would suffer without the Snowmobilers. I'm in favor of going back to the December 1st opening we enjoyed for years. Please attend a meeting in Your county and cast Your vote on April 13th @ 7:00PM. Link below to more info. Bring a pencil not pen and picture I.D. to obtain a ballot.

Wow, that is a big chunk of time that they would take away from the snowmobiling season. Granted that the hunters maybe do bring SOME money into the local economies, but I'd venture to guess it's nowhere near the amount that snowmobilers bring in.

Is this only in those counties noted?

I hope that our WI residents in those areas, that can voice their opinions, do take the time to do so. And I hope that those in charge listen to those voices.

why not just go somewhere else?

There are many communities that want your sledding and atv dollars.

Vilas County is not one of them. Until the local businesses decide to take back their government, go elsewhere.

that is not good. i would attend if possible, but can't. for you sledders that can-THANK YOU! it is starting to look as if the hunters dollars are more important the the snowmobilers. lets than them by going else where. there are plenty of places that will welcome us. it is sad to say this, but we have to then face reality. will sled, just may not be in vilas county.

    Muzzleloading season

The Muzzleloading extended season was defeated at the April meetings. Now the DNR has decided to extend the Turkey season to the end of December. Not sure how that will affect the upcoming Snowmobiling season. Stay tuned for more updates.
