Thread: New tow vehicle

Well...I didn't have time to devote to the project last summer.

I hope I get to it this summer.

I decided to go a little higher tech. I got rid of the CDA-9887, and bought a Alpine IVA-D900, a DVD navigation unit, IPOD interface, brake bypass unit, PXH-H700 Dolby surround sound processor and an RUX controller.

I just got the head unit, nav unit and IPOD interface today. I should get the PHX and RUX in the next couple of days.

It looks like I will be losing my under seat storage bins AND the behind the seat storage.

Here is the stuff I got today:

I got the final stereo equipment this weekend.

Here is the processor I got for the unit. It also has a microphone to program the time delay like the older Imprint systems. But the microphone is permantly mounted and changes actively changes the setting automatically depending upon the people in the vehicle. It also has outputs for subs, and 3 sets of speakers, which is what I will have.

It also has phantom center channel for the DVD player and Dolby surround sound with navigation interrupt. It will automatically cut out the sound and only play the navigation directions.

Here is the new unit with the controller. I will be using a double-din mount with the head unit and the controller.

I also got the carbon fiber seat heaters. I got the wiring harnesses, switches and upper and lower pads.

The last thing I need to get is the Katzkins leather seat covers. The Katzkins are the ones Toyota dealer uses when a customer wants leather seats in the Tacomas. Tacoma cannot be ordered from Toyota with leather seats.

I am also getting extra matching leather to cover the center console lid and the door inserts.

With the heat, not much work being done outside on the trailer.

Instead of sitting idley by, I am collecting the finishing items for the Tacoma build up.

Today I got in the leather seat covers.

I also got the window tint. I ordered it a shade lighter than the back so when you combine with the stock slight tint it will be the same shade as the back windows.

I am just waiting for my sub-box from Tacotunes. Then I can make my amp board and when I am shooting the truck bed liner for my trailer, I can shoot the amp rack. The sub box and amp rack are going to be coated with Raptr truck bed liner to finish them off.

I am also scrapping the 12 disc CD changer. I have been steadily downloading all my CD's to my IPOD.

Sitting around a couple hours per night watching all 7 seasons of Buffey the Vampire Slayer and downloading music until this heat passes somewhat.

The wife is even getting into Buffy. When all 144 episodes are over, we are going to start on the Charmed series. Blueray and Netflix online is AWESOME!!!LOL
