Any wisconsin trails "for sure" open before Dec. 12? Some of the area websites say they open Dec. 1, but I'd like to be sure before I go, since most of the state is closed for hunting till Dec. 10

Its a shame they are not. I mean, the snow will only hold a few dozen sleds, but this is a good start for a base. Saw a few tracks on the way up to Winter tonight. Not quite as much snow as in Point, 10 vs 6, but it is a good start, and it is snowing now.
You really know what's a shame...the Clubs around here didn't even take advantage and pan down the trails. Had that been done, the snow would have more than likely settled in the trail instead of ending up in the ditches. Guess they were all sitting in that fancy club house instead of getting a start on it.![]()
But Howler, if the trails are not open, does it make sense for them to even go out? Maybe owners don't open gates until they officially open? Maybe they don't want to give the impression that they are open? I'm guessing one of the two is the reason.
We groomed our trails on Sunday.
Clubs do get money for grooming, even if the trails aren't open (there are some restrictions on that, but I can't remember). It's nice to get them groomed and let that drifting go to work for you...almost like another snowfall as it fills in the trail.
I think a lot of clubs don't even have all trails marked yet...hard to get out until after deer season. We weren't quite finished marking on Sunday and were still scrambling to re-route some trails and get landowner permission.
440, they typically try to get a jump on trail prep, so that when the season does open, the trails are set as opposed to setting them up the day of opening. The c****** area had marked the trails on Saturday from what I saw on the south end of town.
It would be nice to see those trails filled in with the snow instead of having it blow away as DotheDoo had mentioned. Normally, it seems like that's the case around here. Although to their defense, the trails have only been open about 10 days around here in the last 2 years due to snow conditions.
looks like bayfield county is open. never been there in winter, but might give that a try saturday.
thanks for the info! can you reccomend a place to get a map, or park a truck/trailer?
We are heading to Brule this weekend for some riding. Sounds like there is a good base up that way
