02 Viper shock questions... Please help.

I bought a 02 Viper earlier this year with about 400 miles. It was a deal I couldn’t pass up, even knowing about the rough ride of this year. None of the shocks have been updated. Should I have the existing shocks re-valved? If so who, or what, do you recommend? Or should I buy new Ohlin shocks all the way around? I’m looking for all opinions and or suggestions. I ride mainly in Iowa and Wisconsin. Thanks for the help Brian.

Yamahas usually came with HPG rebuilable shocks. I can revalve/rebuild them for $41.50 each not including seals. I only replace the seals if they need them. Seals are $6 each.

I use Amzoil synthetic shock oil and am located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I own a business called A-MAIZE-ING KUSTOMS and rebuild shocks (as well as build custom sleds). I also do all of TrackSide's shock service work.

Buying a set of Ohlins is going to very expensive. Check to see that your shocks are the rebuildable kind. Most of the Vipers were. Check to see if they have the brass nitrogen port with the phillips head screw. If they do, I can revalve them for much less than a set of Ohlins.
