    2001 mxz 800 crank

Hey guys long time no see. Im thinking about buying a 2001 mxz 800 with a con rod bearing gone. Ill need to tear apart the crank case but im wondering if ther is anything i should look for, if i do a compression test will the reading still be accurate, if i buy a used crank off ebay what else will i need to by other then the seals and gasket kit thanks

    Crank

First thing I would do is tear the crank down and make sure the crank is salvagable. Before you go buying parts for a usless crank. If it is usable , I would do all bearings on it. When a bearing goes there is a lot of metal going through the others also. It costs a bit more but then you have less to worry about when you are out beating the hell out of it 100 miles away from where ever. JMO !
