Well, you know her better than we do. The big thing is obviously make sure she's safe. But consider how much experience she has, her coordination and motor skills, her common sense and just all around responsibility levels. It's tough, but start her out on a safe-sized sled and let her go. Take her out in any open fields and see what she is capable of. Then, hit the trail and see how she does. Keep in mind that you should let her lead so that she isn't trying to play "catch-up" and be put in a situation where she drives too fast for her skills. Everyone is different so just be careful. Have Fun!!!!There are a ton of opinions and ideas and everyone learns at different speeds.
She has been riding around lakes and stuff for a few years. I am more worried about people hitting her. I got her an 00 Supersport 550. Nice and slow.
I went threw this last year with my 12 year old daughter. She has raced 120 sleds in the past and drove my sled or my wifes around here and there on the lake or the land. I was more nervous than her the first time. I got her a 2001 ski-doo formula dlx 500. Nice sled with 883 miles on it and elec start and reverse. The first time she rode the trails was last dec 16 here in Appleton,Wi just her and I went out and I left her lead for a bit then follow. She said that being out front was fun but didn't like sleds coming at her first. She prefered me to be in front so I could signal to her by hand sleds coming. I kept it about 30 mph or so at first then a little faster. She rode about 850 miles last year and got really good the last ride. She could with the e start the last ride start it her self and did a good job at 30-35 keeping up and on lakes going about 50 or so and on straight aways about 40 -45 if nothing around. The problem that we had was she is tiny and could only ride about 70 miles before getting real tired. We tried to switch sleds one time while she got tired and I gave her my 09 Nytro Yamaha and she did ok on that but I dont like her driving that. Make sure she has good helmet, warm gloves and boots and good jacket. I got her new FXR boots and sno pants and a ski-doo jacket. HJC helmet with shield plug in and nice ski-doo gloves she never complained which suprised me even in 15 below cold. I would also look into a brite light for a headlight so she has alittle more high beam and low beam real good bulbs from Brite lites. They have a website if interested and maybe stud the track for her. Helps alot. I quess its like anything else you get out what you put into it. Number one thing have fun and be proud. I know that I was.
My 12 and 15 year olds are at training today!
