94 efi pantera battery will not charge

last year the battery keeps going dead after a long run. This year put new battery in again. I'm sick of charging the battery. I checked the inline fuse ok, but replaced for safe measures. I noticed at idle to rev up the head light gets brighter. I put a meter on battery posts, with nothing running 12.8 volts and when running 11.6 volts and stays there when rev up. Could it be regulator? I tried to trace in line fuse wire back but lose it? what does regulator look like? I see a black square box up by gas tank down low.(hard to get too) Need help sick of charging sled for kids.

Same thing happend to my wife's sled, the voltage regulator was shot. Can't say for sure that's whats wrong with yours, but I would check that out for sure. You can keep frying batteries if the regulator is bad.

    1999 ZRT 600 idling problem

My neighbor just bought a beautiful 1999 Arctic Cat ZRT 600 has only like 1006 miles on it from a old fella that didn't want it anymore. It runs and drives nice. He asked me about this. It runs great but it wont idle unless you push on the throttle like a 1/8 of inch then runs fine. Leave thumb off throttle and kills the motor. Then start back up depressing throttle like a 1/8 inch and starts right up. Hold the throttle in barely a little and runs and idels fine but as soon as you leave go it dies. What is this? Is it some kind of throttle overide that Cat has? How do I bypass it? Anyone hear of this? Let me know. Thanks

    battery charging problems

Hey littlebachy613, before you go and start trying to bypass things find out the problem first. I am a certified technician. This is very simple to do. First get use of some type of "VOLTAGE" meter. either digital or analog. take a reading of the battery voltage with sled off, not running. Then start it up and take a reading on the posts of the Battery. the reading of the battery when not running should be in the area of 12.0-12.5 volts. with the sled running it should be around 12.4-13.0 volts. If there is no difference then there is a charging problem. if it shows it is charging I would guess it is a battery issue. allways remember just because it is new, it does NOT mean it is good . If you need more help send me a PM and I will help all I can .
