    xtra 10 or xtra 12

I have a 1996 polaris xlt special and i was wondering if it had the xtra 10 or xtra 12 suspension if anybody knows how to distinguish or if they only made them that year with one or the other. By looking at some pics it looks to me that the xtra 10 has four wheels on the rear and the xtra 12 only has three is this how they distinguish? Thanks

I can tell you this about the 2002 model year 2-up Xtra 10 and Xtra 12. I do not know if it is the same for short track models, and for different years. So maybe this is no help at all. Anyway, look at your scissor stops, those rectangular rubber bumpers in front of and behind where the rear pivot arm comes down to the rails. On the Xtra 10 the Front (FRSS) and rear (RRSS) are BOTH adjustable. They can be turned, like a cam. On the Xtra12, only the FRSS is adjustable.

Xtra-12 for sure. The 96 Ultra and XCRSP came with the X-10, while the XLT and RXL Models came with the Xtra-12.
