    Crash

First time, I crashed my sled over the weekend, I hit a washout and it sent me and my sled into a tree. I bailed but my foot was caught in the footwell minor bruises.

The sled is a mess, the whole front is busted up. The hood is shot, the airforce injection system is toast, the wire hireness going into the efi box is melted and wires are exposed. All the platic around the belly pan is busted. We were able to use gorilla tape and get everything secure and it made the 30 mile trip back to the cabin.

I have insurance, but really not sure how that works. Can somone tell me what most insurance companies do when you crash a sled? Will they total it? Or will they fix it? I will post pictures

    Sorry to hear Jeff.
Been there done that.. (lol) still sucks tho...
It depends on the insurance co you have..
Take your sled to the shop, they will do an estimate and will probably tell you while you are there whether it is a total or not..
Call your insurance co, they will hook up with the shop ... let you know within a day or two what they will do ... and if you got a good insurance carrier... you'll have your check immediately... my experience with the insurance companies they have been more than fair.. and with 3 sleds in 4 years... UGH. but none of my wrecks have been over 25 mphs so i'm still considered a safe driver..LOL
(not that i have had much experience with wrecked sleds & insurance..LOL )

If you tweaked the tunnel at all or bent the bulk head, your sled will be a total...
In my experience the pay offs have been really good.. they have taken good care of me..
My attak 2 yrs old they gave me $7900 for.. you can look all day long on line and find them for $6500...

GOOD LUCK!!!! and glad to hear your doing ok and not hurt.
    AL

I don't own the insurance companys... they just make their money back
on inter-office bets on when I'll wreck the next one..

    One additional thought...

    Jeff,

Sorry to hear about your wreck. Glad to hear you are doing okay and the outcome to you wasn't any worse.

One additional note on what Al posted...I would recommend you call your insurance company first before taking it in. Some insurance companies require their own inspectors look at it and make the determination vs. a private shop.

Hope it goes ok and you get the outcome you want. Keep us posted.

But the adjustor that I dealt with told me you have to be alot worse then me to be dropped or have your rates increased.. (is that possible..?? LOL).... we;ll see,,

i remember my first accedent. couple scratches to the sled but i found my self getting a ride to the ER. concusion and bruised ribs and shoulder. From the sceen of the crash i had the sled sideways and hit a slush patch. Sled roled over me and landed rubber side down. one pull it started and i went off to the home stead with no memory of it. thought i had my nephew on sled with me when it happen.

good to hear your ok and sounds like you probly have a good shot at it being totaled. So if your anything like AL. what ya gonna get now??? If you shoot me a good price i'll sell you my switchback. i may owe more than its worth though.
