The trail conditions in the "Snowmobile Capital of the World...Eagle River, WI are for the most part Poor. Some Fair. It does not look good for any real snow in the forecast.
There is riding as I report in the woods & in the far north parts of Vilas County. For that reason the TRAILS REMAIN OPEN. Each winter sledding season there are questions on how long the trails can remain open.
SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN VILAS COUNTY WILL REMAIN OPEN, conditions permitting, UNTIL 12 MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 31ST
"Adventure Sledding" is in order for this time of the year. You might have to trailer to a spot & ride from there. You will definitely experience good, bad & even ugly!!!!
Grooming has stopped until we get more SNOW fall.
Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trail are smooth & covered with lots of SNOW. Believe or not there is no surface slush. This must be because it is getting cold at night. Remember to stay by the orange reflective marker barrels. This weekend is the end of most ice fishing because all but panfish season close. There is a regulation that requires riders, etc to stay 100 feet from ice fisherman.
At this point I will NOT be updating the trail report everyday UNLESS THE CONDITIONS CHANGE.....like a great big snow storm! That would be teriffic.
THINK MORE SNOW & COLD! Let the Snow Dance begin!
I would really like to see a March SNOW STORM so I could ride at least one more time!
