Hi All,
As you are aware on the other side of Snowtracks we have local area snowmobile trail reports. I started a guideline to use for reporting the conditions. Tell me what you think.
TRAIL CONDITION GRADING SYSTEM
FAIR
2 to 4 inch base
Many bare spots and surface flaws visible
Very little or no grooming taking place
Warm temperatures will cause immediate close down
GOOD
3 to 6 inch base
Some bare spots and surface flaws
Grooming is being done in moderation
Warm temperatures and/or poor snow consistency will reduce conditions rapidly
VERY GOOD
5 to 8 inch base
Majority of trails are filled and only minor flaws remaining
Consistent grooming is being done
Poor snow consistency and/or heavy traffic will cause heavier moguling and snow flaws
EXCELLENT
7 to 10+ inch base
All trails are filled and smooth
Consistent grooming is being done
Base in solid due to good snow consistency
Trails hold up very well during heavy traffic
Above conditions DO NOT take into account blowing/drifting snow, snow storms and/or excessive snowmobile traffic that occur during or immediately following scheduled grooming operations
Thanks
Bob
