Info on sled maintenance

I sold my sled back in July.It was an 04' Polaris 700 XCSP,and i loved it!!!Sold it for financial reasons and been kicking myself in the butt ever since!!!I found a pretty good deal on a 2000 ppolaris 700 XCSP with what claims to be only 980 miles.It is not the greatest but is in overall good condition.What is the best way to clean the engine compartment?Is simple green a bad idea?Do i just use some sort of degreaser and hose it off??Was also wondering if you guys could direct me to some kind of website where i can find out how to change the chain case oil and do some other maintenence type things w/out takin it to the dealer??Any help would be appreciated...

simple green will work. can hose down, just watch air box.
i spray mine down and let sit while and i use rag to wipe down.
