Belt Tension

I just put a new belt on my sled.It is a 00' Polaris XC700SP.I have figured out that the belt is too tight(Track spins at idle when suspended).The problem is that when i loosen the three bolts on the side of the secondary to adjust the belt tension,nothing happens.The bolts come loose and the little plate moves freely.Is something stuck somwhere or hung up???I just recently bought this sled and it only has a 1000 miles and it has been sitttin for awhile!!Any help would be greatly appreciated...

The belt is keeping the clutch faces from moving. Take the belt off, and try again. If your belt was off, then your helix may be sticking? It's hard for me to explain this, sorry about that. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a better explanation.

Is the belt really spinning like crazy or just doing a little "shuffle"? Mine turns when suspended but I can stop it with my hand. I have always assumed this is normal.

The primary clutch is grabbing the belt, and it shouldn't. You would probably have to take the primary apart and remove a spacer behind the spider. I have the same issue right now on my 99 SKS 700, but I don't plan on correcting it until spring/summer at this point.

Don't let it sit and rub on the belt while idling for very long without letting it turn the track, it will create flat spots on the belt and significantly reduce the belt life.
