Ski Doo oil consumtion

2010 ski doo mxz 600 sport (not e-tec) have used 4.5 gallons of xp blend in 1700 mi, excessive? Ive been keeping track and its using almost 4 oz per gallon. Man did they bury the oil injector pump on this one, cant even see it.

My Formula Z burns about 40:1 gas to oil. That's 3.2 oz per gallon. Of course mine is a '96 though. Don't know if the newer ones are more efficient. Are you fouling plugs? I generally go by what color the plugs are as to if it needs adjusting.

My 2003 600ho gets about 600 miles per gal of XPS

Pull the air box and you can get to the pump,, the lever on the pump could be sticking and not returning all the way,the cable could also be out of adjustment.Not shure what the free play is supose to be on that sled but easy enough to find out.

On the 2010 xp 500ss motor the cable free play is 16mm. Cable adjust is by the recoil. Pull open boot and check free play from end of cable to end of cable. Good luck if you need Pics let me Know. PIT OUT

On the 2003 600 you have to adjust at the pump. Read your manual for how to adjust. A good rule of thumb is for every tank of fuel you should use about a quart and half of oil.
