I got tired of poking my hands on the previous owner's jury-rigged trailer ramp.
So...instead of modifying that old POS, I learned from my past mistakes....I am making a new one from scratch.
The tail piece will be on a hinge type system and fold back over the main portion of the ramp. My entire driveway is concrete so in order to keep from having to get a running start and launch into the trailer. A bad combination with a 54" roof line. LOL
Here is the old POS ramp. It is made from 1/4" aluminum angle and square tubing. The rest is 3/4" plywood. When it gets wet, (even dry) it weighs a ton and is very awkward when trying to move, especially with the screws sticking out the bottom of the wood.
Here is the layout of the new ramp. I do need to make the swivel for the base unit and get another set of plastic runners.
Here are the flap I have. They are hinged and drop over the edge of the deck to prevent tearing the corners up:
