What are your summer plans or projects

Just wondering what everyone is doing this summer for fun and any projects??

I just picked up an 02 honda rubicon, cleaning up the rust and painting it.
Changing all the fluids and fixing some corrosion issues, looks like it was towed in the winter and fot a lot of corrosion from salt.

Hey good luck with that rubicon project. Should make a good ride. Honda always made a decent 4 wheeler

It should be fun, i orderd some of the good ol Por 15 to fix up the rusty spots, have it half way tore down to the frame. Its amazing how many little things cancause issues, a quarter of a turn tight on the choke to make it stay out, and quarter turn looser and the throttle doesn't stick anymore

Found out PB Blaster works to clean up aluminum as well.

    busy summer

well, first off I have to prep the sleds for storage, I haven't gotten to that yet. We are working on finishing of fthe attic level of our 1-1/2 story home. Got insulation foamed in this winter, windows replaced, and am now working to get the HVAC system caught up with our changes up there. Then we'll have sheetrock and finishes to take care of.

Basement ceiling needs to get re-done, and I'm sure that our HVAC work to serve the upstairs, is going to force us into some of that work, with running new trunk lines, etc.

Need to re-roof the 2-car detatched garage. Also have a few family trips out of town to try and fit in, since we've kinda been stuck around home for the past couple summers it seems.

Hoping to do some body work on my old pickup, and hopefully get paint on that as well this summer. Have a few mechanical repairs that needs too, of course.

Unlikely to get to this project this year, but we've been wanting a paver patio at the south end of our house, and to pull up some of the old sidewalk that's in the way of that.

Sometimes I think life could be a whole lot simpler if I didn't know how to build and fix stuff, and just paid others to do it all for me. Seems I'm always stuck with these long project lists, and struggling to find free time.

Isn't that the truth however i guess if we paid others to do these things for us we would have to work more elsewhere to cover that cost. (thats what i tell myself anyway )

Tom sounds like a busy and nice summer you have.

Braindead a few little hints for you on the rust issues. When I restore sleds my best friends are my Media Blaster, A wire wheel and Mothers polish. If you have rusty metal Media Blast it in the cabinet works instantly. Decent cabinet will cost you 120.00 not bad. Dont get one of those Harbor Freight train wrecks. A wire wheel on a drill and a powerball work good. Mothers polish for aluminum works good. You can also bypass all the waxing and cleaning and Media Blast with Glass bead. Real Nice finish. When you paint metal parts try to use a product called Rust Bullet. It is great over primer, Rusty metal sanded or bare metal. The US Military uses it on planes and war equipment. But not to worry it is very affordable and can be rolled, brushed, on and can be sanded. Another good tip is using acid etching primer. You can google rust bullet and primers and good paints like aresols in cans you can find at eastwood.com. Any other questions let me know or if you have some hard pieces let me know. Ryan

    Thanks,
My dad used some of the por 15 a few years back and its still perfect, right over some cleaned up rust on a taillight housing on his Car hauler.
It amazing what that stuff will do. I don't think i am going to have to strip the chassis down just gonna brush down the bad areas and the frame and brush on some of that and see what happens. The nice part is there isn't that much surface to cover will probably take 15-20 minutes going really slow and coating it nicely.
