I am a fairly new member here. I registered here last fall in hopes of gaining some advice or insight onto why (besides the economy), here in northern lower Michigan, the trails are going mostly unused. I realize that last winter there wasn't alot of really good snow here in Cheboygan county. My family and I bought a motel up there almost 2 years ago and from what I understand, winter tourism, has been dropping off steadily for the last 5 years. Most would say that no one is traveling to go snowmobiling anymore, but my sister and I happened to drive through Grayling, Michigan and the city was completely packed. I see no major difference between their trails and the ones in Cheboygan and the surrounding areas. As a matter of fact, we used to goto Cheboygan and ride the trails even before we bought the motel. We need help! This tourist town, which sports over 500 miles of trails, is in danger of losing the battle. My motel no longer stays open in the winter because we can no longer afford to. That is the state of all the other motels in the town. I just need suggestions. Thanks
