Got up to the cottage and managed to log about hundred miles or so. Would have been more but we had to stay close to home so my new puppy didn't destroy the place while were out riding. We were heading back from to Harrison, MI from the Temple area on Sunday night and just missed a deer being run over by a sled on trail 656. So we dragged him off the trail. We go about 2 miles and find a Small Beagle sitting on the trail, shakin' like a paint mixer. We see he's got a collar but can't make out the phone number, so we take him back to the Riverside Bar in Leota and make a call to his owner who says in the answering machine message, that they have lost two dogs and are anxious to get them back. The owner of the bar says take him to the Leota Motel, they have a kennel. So we drop him off there, he slips his collar off and runs back to the sled...he must have liked it! We then headed back to Harrison. Got a call from his owner on Monday, turns out he had been in the woods since Friday morning! We found him on Sunday night! The owner thanked us for taking care of her dog and said he had lost a lot of weight in his three days in the woods, I guess that explains his collar coming off at the motel! Or maybe he really liked the ride wedged in between my brother and his girlfriend...

Kudos to the Riverside Bar and especially the folks at the Leota Motel.
