Arctic Cat ZR600 efi wont run right

I have a 2002 Arctic Cat ZR600 that just doesn't want to run above idle. I give it gas and it backfires, spits, and sputters then finally will go at WOT, but then as soon as you let off the gas, it dies. after it is warm, it wont run above idle at all, you give it gas and it bogs down terribly and backfires then eventually dies. it has spark in both cylinders. anything commonly go wrong on these sleds? it only has 2100 miles. any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks

possible fuel pump issue ? ecm issue ? doesnt seem right that wide open throttle it runs till warm . might have to have dealer hook the ecm up . does that year have a oxygen sensor in the pipe ?

You may have gotten some gas with water in it, try draining the tank and adding some isoprylene alcohol (iso-heet the red bottle not the yellow) to the tank and filling it with fresh gas, my ZR 900 was spitting and sputtering at the beggining of the year drained the gas added some drygas and a fresh tank and it runs great, also i dont know if that has the heated throttle body option or not, but i have heated carbs i turned it on and it cleared the ice out of the carbs

Did you unplug the throttle safety switch, to make sure that's not causing it?

Running problems that get worse hot are often caused by a bad stator on those. But if you are running rich for some reason, that can also run worse when hot. Is this an EFI or carb?

Revrider: there are no oxygen sensors on any two-stroke sleds. You are probably thinking of the pipe temp sensor.

I dont think it is a fuel pump issue because it seems to be getting plenty of gas when i disconnect the fuel lines. also, it does not have the heated throttle body but it is sitting in my heated garage so it should be warm enough. It is EFI. where is the stator located? I am going to go drain the gas now. I'll let you know if that fixes it. Thanks alot guys!

stator is behind the flywheel behind your recoil . one quick hint tho . just because it "seems" theres alot of gas at the fuel lines does not mean it has enough pressure . fuel pump can flow alot of gas but may not have enuf pressure to open fuel regulator . make sense ?

i belive the fuel pressure should be about 40 psi . but i have read some other forums today and alot of people with the same problem have said stator fixed it . with a few saying a bad sensor. with one saying his steering was rubbing a wire to the throttle bodys . one saying a bad throttle safety switch . also read that if you get the stator out and it looks "burnt" it prolly is . alot of them seem to be 98's
sounds like you can get it rewound from "mr stator"

I drained the gas and i've had it idling for 15 minutes and its still idling but once i give it gas it dies. what does the stator look like? i cant seem to find it....

Have you tried unplugging the throttle safety switch, to see if the problem goes away? It's a three-wire connnector under the handlebar pad. I think it's green-purple-brown (if I remember correctly).
