Polaris body serial number verification?

Does anyone know of a website or book I can check to verify the body number on one of my Polaris machines? My wife bought what is supposed to be a 1988 Indy 400 XCR with a 500 liquid cooled motor from a later year in it. The machine looked good and ran better until my 13 year old had a tree jump in front of him. Now, before I buy the replacement front bumper, 1 side bumper, nosecone, hood and windshield through eBay, I want to make sure the parts will be the right ones. My body serial number is 1521670. I have tried to cross match part numbers through the Polaris website but I would really like to get the correct parts. Thanks in advance!

You can put just about any wedge part on to another wedge part . I have a 92 500 body , 650 motor , XLT seat and tank and a XCR 440 hood . Plus a few other parts from other sleds . I would personally run a 90's nose and hood . Just my opinion . The more mods the better off you are .

Get the model number off of the tunnel and you'll be able to find out what it is.

The body serial number I have, 1521670 is the only number on the tunnel. There is no tag with a model number anywhere like I have had on my other sleds. At first I thought this number was a tunnel part number, but the part number for the tunnel for an 88 indy is totaly different. Then I started thinking that I may have a frankenstein sled. That wouldn't be too bad except that when I buy parts to repair the damage I want to get parts that will fit and not have to guess and take chances! Now I am just curious about it all!
