SkiDoo 500SS or GSX

Does anyone have one of these sleds? My wife and I are considering a couple new sleds and these two caught my eye. We're not really looking for anything more than a 600, and we would wanna get the Elec. start and Reverse as well. I'm just looking for some opinions and reviews.

The 500ss has a great reputation, and is a very fun ride. I'm assuming that the GSX has a similar reputation. If your into more ajustability on the suspension, then the GSX will give you a bit more.

pay the few extra bucks and get the GSX. I was going to suggest looking for a left over from last year and save a few bucks, but with the winter we've had this year I doubt you'll find anything. If we don't get snow down here next year there will be a ton of used sleds for sale.

The 500SS is a great motor and in 2008 was available in the MXZ Trail and GSX package as well as the two up GTX and hot rod T-N-T. The GSX will give you a bit more with the addition of electric start, Mirrors and a tunnel bag. Both of these machines have the same shock package and will ride identical. The 500SS is probably the most underated overall package on the snow and the Trail has to be the best value going.

I have an 07 500 ss and the 12 year old boy stole it from me. We both love it, but I will agree that the front spring/shock package could be better. I really haven't noticed the back being that bad, bet the front bottoms once n a while.

I had an 05 ss, I liked it. We also have an 06 gsx, the wife loves it. I personally liked the 500ss better.

my friend has a gsx and He loves it. Im a former owner of a 600ss i rolled on the lake. It was ok but not the best trail sled. kicked myself for not getting the gsx.

You guys are talking me into a couple of the GSX's. As I understand it, the 500SS motor is actually a 597, and comes in the GSX??? Being 40 years old, we're ready for elec. start and reverse, and some cushy suspension under our duffs! I'd have to let "the boy" ride my MXZ 500 Trail. I love that thing!!! Trackside Greg, I sent you a p.m. If I was closer I'd stop in. Anyone wanna buy a couple Indy Trail 500's????

i bought a used one 3 weeks ago and love it. i am 6'5 250 lbs and only bottom it out ever once in while. great machine, the ski doo oil is a total rip off though.
