Got an uncle that has an 07 550 X. the only complaint is that it is down on power compared to the liquids.
I just got a message from 'Trackside Greg'. He knows i've been on smaller displacment sleds for years, but they have all been 440 race sleds with much a much harder hitting midrange. Top speed means very little to me, but i think he's right, a 600 sdi may be a better choice. I'm tired of losing my butt buying a new sled every other year, i need one good for the long run.
If thats the case, you don't want the 550. It's a great sled to knock around on, but I don't think you will have a good resale. The up-side to sleds like that are that they seem to last a lifetime. If it's for you and you ride alot, and you ride hard - go with the 6
My wife rides the 550 and it the R & H is excellent. Probably one of the easiest sleds to ride - especially if you are a beginner like her. I'm guessing the MPG would be ranging from 12-14? Has decent low & mid range kick but is definetely not a lake racer (90 / 95 mph). Based on some of your comments it seems you would definetely not be satisfied w/ the power of this sled. I would go w/ a 600 or 700 liguid cooled. Better yet, go hook up wth a new 800 XP doo. Its probably the same weight with 2x the power...
Thanks for the feedback guys. Now i'm not sure, so with over a year of warrenty left on my 07 Phaser (that no one seems to like but me, lol) I think i'm going to wait a while. I always say that and end up at the dealer.
I know this thread is old, but I love my 07 Phazer, lite, flickable and NOT cold. Fan cooled sleds arn't good for warmer weather they tend to not like it and loose power. The Phazer is a good ditch banger and trail sled and you can get atleast 14-15000 km on them. I say stick with the Phazer
