MXZ 600 hard to start

I have a 2002 MXZ 600 and I am having troubles with starting. The sled will start but it takes sometimes 8-10 pulls when it is cold and 2-3 when it is warm. A friend of mine has the same exact sled and it starts in no more than 2-3 pulls all the time. It does start on 1 pull when at full operating temperature. I am planning on going through the carbs this weekend and I was wondering if there is anything in particular I should look for?

Check to see if the carbs are syncronized mine where off last time i blew it up and it was very hard to start even warm.

Could be reeds, or something with the carbs or fuel filter.

Yes there is a common problem. If the intake boots have never been replaced look them over GOOD!! after you pull the carbs off take the reed cages and boots out and inspect the boots. They start delaminating from the cage itself. It might not look bad but if there is any loose molded rubber around the cage you need to replace them. What is happening is there is a vacume leak. The bad part is they are all one piece and you will be replacing the reeds and cages as a set. If this is the problem Give me a shout. I actually bought a set of new Vforce reeds at the milw. snow show, so hopefully that will help. I also will be installing a new fuel filter while I have the tank empty and fuel lines off. Thanks guys.
