ok so i bought an 01mxz 600. when i bought it everything looked excellent it had low km and was in good shape. got it home and had a buddy come over to see it, we started it up and opened the hood and hear a fait rattling/knocking noise. also the idle was turned way up probably to drain the sound of the rattle and the guy said he babied it so why would the idle be way up.? so we took it to a friend of a friend who is and absolute expert when it comes to skidoo and uses a stethaescope and determins the rattle is comming from the crank shaft which would me the bearring was shot. we called the guy we bought it from and he said bring it over so we drove an hour is a snowstorm and got there started it up and said it was the muffler and whoever said it was the crank didnt know what they were talking about. how could it be the muffler is this b.s, is this guy taking me for a fool. then after he said it was the muffler we disagreed with him saying that didnt make sense then he says thats the sound a strong sled makes. were are not brain dead. i cant believe he could say that believeing anyone in the entire world would believe him. before we left he told me to just ride the sled hard...... ya so i can blow it up and have a 2000dollar bill. i cant believe people have the guts to lie like that. he told me if anything ever happened he could fix it it dirt cheap should i trust him. anyone have any ideas what the noise could be, if also got responses from dootalk.com saying it could be the bearing in my primary clutch gone. would this make the same noise and a crankshaft bearing, any help is appreciated! I hope this guy is happy he guarinteed my son a fun riding season and is greatly disappointed in this guy

Im not an expert in ski-doo or anything, but i have a buddy who owns the same model and year. We also heard a rattle but it turned out to just be the coils of the shocks. but i dont know much and i think you woulda caught that right away

For peace of mind you could pay the dealer a diagnostic fee (shouldn't be too much) to have them check it out to see what the sound could be, I would say its very possible for a clutch bushing to reverbarate through and sound like its coming from the clutch.

Have you checked out the RAVE valves they should be cleaned once a year

The exhaust shield rattled on mine and I thought it was coming from the engine. I found it after putting my hand on the exhaust to put my head closer to the engine. The rattle stopped. lol

Not saying thats the problem but it was my problem. Good Luck.
