Has anyone here tried out a D&D shift assist? If so, what were your results? I just put one in my C7, and I can't wait for the first snow to try it out.

I ran one all last season (F7). Made a huge improvment on backshift and seemed to keep the spring from binding at the top end. $20 well spent.

Did you also change the secondary spring, or leave it stock?

When I put the shift assist in, I put an '07 orange sec. spring, which worked fine but my midrange seemed to suffer. Over summer I put the stock green one in and cranked it in about 1/4" & put in shims to hold it there. BUT, all that was with a 1" track w/153 studs, now I put a 1.375" track on and when I was going through it this summer I noticed my APV's were all carboned up, so that could have affected my midrange too. So, with clean APV's and a bigger lug, I'm kinda back to square one. One thing I have noticed though is that the bigger lug tracks need to be tuned quite different than the 1" due to the torque feedback. Running the 1" though I could hit 105 mph no problem (GPS) and GPS'd as high as 118. I'm tuning the 1.375" for hardcore trail, no so much top end. One interesting thing though when I took off the 1"/studded, I weighed both tracks:
1"/153 studs/clipped every 3rd= 42.5lbs.
1.375"/fullyclipped/no studs= 39.4lbs.

Earlier today, I took the first ride on the C7 since adding the orange spring in the secondary and the shift assist. I have no idea what will happen with my top speed yet, but my backshift is friggin unreal (compared to stock), and acceleration was excellent, so I have high hopes for it. Can't wait to hit a nice hard packed lake. But to be honest, I don't know if I would change it now, even if I haven't gained any top speed, because the "trail" performance is so improved. If I do anything more, it will be adding one of the conversion kits to go to the torsion secondary (rather than the F-ing retarded compression-spring secondary that they used with the DD).

Just got 07 f8 sno pro, the low end and top end are lacking. Seems to shift too early on low end and not at all on the top end. I noticed your post and was wondering if the shift assist would be of any value???
