Unfortunately it looks like the party is over. It's been up into the 50s the past couple of days and today we've had some rain and freezing rain. Conditions really deteriorated quickly even though we had that foot of snow last week. It was a long season with great trails and we hope you were able to come up and enjoy them. The waterfalls are now running great and trout season opens at the end of the month. Our game fish season starts May 15, so if you're looking for lodging, Watersmeet has a terrific variety of places to choose from from a casino resort to motels, a hotel, resorts, and vacation homes. There's something for everyone! Thank you for visiting. I have some facts from our 2006-2007 season for the UP Thunderriders Snowmobile Club in Watersmeet that I thought everyone might be interested in:
Total miles of trail that we groom: 71 miles
Total miles groomed last winter: 9,730 (2005-2006: 14,583 and 2004-2005: 15,205)
Total gallons of fuel used last winter: 5,486.25 (2005-2006: 9,722 and 2004-2005: 9,728)
Total man hours for the season: 1,008.6 hours (2005-2006: 1,737 and 2004-2005: 1,480)
Average speed of the groomer during grooming 2005-2006 winter: 9 mph
(Cost of diesel fuel in 2006-2007 $12,316.60 (2004-2005 - $16,577.97)

Watersmeet is the snowmobiling hub with trails heading north, south, east, and west. What wonderful variety! Our U. P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club of Watersmeet does a wonderful job of keeping our trails in the best shape they can be. Winter
snowmobiling excitement runs rampant throughout the Watersmeet Michigan
area. Hundreds of lakes and acres of state and national forest lands
provide a winter wonderland for enthusiastic riders.
Watersmeet
Michigan and Land O’ Lakes Wisconsin, located on the border
of Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula provides an excellent
home base for your winter excursions. Trails to the north connect
with the serene trail network of the Upper Peninsula. Corridor 6
guides riders across the northern section at the eastern border,
through Land O’Lakes as it continues on to Presque Isle.
Watersmeet,
Michigan is the gateway to snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula with
access to Minnesota, Lower Michigan and Wisconsin. The Upper Peninsula
of Michigan has a reputation for an extensive groomed snowmobile
trail network, exciting terrain, and an abundance of snow. In the
entire State of Michigan there are over 5,800 miles of snowmobile
trails located throughout six state Forest, three National Forests
and many acres of privately owned lands. About 230 miles are located
in the Ottawa National Forest. Yearly Michigan trail permits are
required.
This
area offers the pure enthusiast miles of groomed trails in the north
in Upper Michigan and short trips to various Wisconsin towns to
the south, east, and west. Gas, rentals, sales, and meals, are within
minutes of each lodging facility The snowmobiler can ride from any
lodging location without the need of the vehicle that brought them.
Annual
snow fall generally between 100 and 250 inches 35 miles of groomed
trails that interconnect.
