The
headquarters of the Montana Snowmobile Association, Missoula offers
challenging mountain riding on a trail system that stretches all
the way into Idaho. Missoula is located in an old, glacial lakebed,
and has earned the name "The Garden City" for its relatively
mild winters, compared to the rest of the state. The town offers
many other recreational opportunities, plus hotels, restaurants,
and shopping.
Located
in western Montana on the Idaho border, this area provides all types
of recreational activities for the outdoor enthusiast. There is
motorcycling, ATV, hiking, hunting, cross country skiing, snow boarding,
Hot Springs, cabins and best of all, SNOWMOBILING!
There
are over 250 miles of regularly groomed trails and vast areas of
ungroomed play areas to venture into that cover both Montana and
Idaho. There is a fee parking lot located at the Montana/Idaho pass
with parking designated for snowmobiles and skiers. There is also
sledding areas close by for the kids.
There
is free parking at the Lolo
Hot Springs Resort with Dining, swimming, cabins and
snowmobile rental available. The trails are well marked with "you
are here" signs at the major junctions to assist those unfamiliar
with this vast area. We are fortunate to generally get the most
powder in the state which provides unmatched fun for the novice
all the way to the thrill seeker. With plenty of hills and trees
to dodge while boondocking, this area is a snowmobilers dream.
Due
to being on the Montana/Idaho border, all sleds operated OFF of
the groomed trail system must have a non resident sticker for the
state they are riding in. These are available at the Lolo Pass parking
lot and the Lolo Hotsprings Resort. Located 35 miles west of Missoula,
Mt. on Highway 12 West. See you in the Powder!
