Snowmobiling Information

When the snow begins to fall, high levels of snowmobile excitement abound in Marinette and Oconto Counties. Well marked and meticulously maintained trails meander through this region providing a true Northwoods riding experience.

Perhaps one of the most well known trails in the state is the Nicolet Trail 250 Mile Marathon, which offers a self-guided tour through the natural beauty of the Nicolet National Forest. State Corridor 7 offers a north-south route through the area from Townsend, through Lakewood and Mountain, continuing south toward Suring.

From this main route, riders can choose from unlimited destinations such as a trek on the Charlie Brown Trail System near Mountain. Maintained by the Chute Pond Snowmobile Club, this system provides fun and exciting loop trips through the forest area.

It also offers interconnecting trails that travel north toward Waubee and Pickerel Lake or travel east to the Caldron Falls and High Falls Reservoirs of the scenic Peshtigo River. From here riders join another famous trail network, the Iron Snowshoe Trails. This trail system, located just west of Crivitz, provides snowmobilers with some of the area’s best trailside pit stops.

North of Crivitz, snowmobilers can connect with State Corridor 3 for a journey north to the Dunbar, Goodman and Pembine areas. From this point riders have the option of taking a trek into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, or traveling west across Wisconsin.

Throughout this region riders will find warm welcoming resorts to call home for their weeklong or weekend excursions. Plenty of trailside stops offer excellent food ranging from delicious steaks to juicy chicken and hamburgers.
