Quilt National: The Best of Contemporary Quilts Saturday, Jan 24, 2009 to Mar 29, 2009 Woodson Art Museum, Wausau Tues-Fri 9am-4pm, Sat-Sun 12pm-5pm Quilters around the world vie to be selected for the Quilt National, organized biennially by The Dairy Barn, Athens, Ohio. The eighty-five examples from the 2007 competition demonstrate that time-honored traditions are thriving and being expressed in new forms as today’s artists rise to meet the challenges of innovative techniques and materials. Quilters must adhere to several imposed rules – but beyond these imperatives, stitching becomes art.

| Wausau,
Wisconsin - Snowmobiling Information |
|
Located
in the middle of north central Wisconsin, the Wausau area includes
the communities of Wausau, Rib Mountain, Schofield, Rothschild,
Mosinee,
Kronenwetter
and Weston. Surrounded by woods, lakes and hills, the Wausau
area enjoys the fortunate combination of big-city amenities with
the look and feel of the great Northwoods and small-town hospitality.
Wausau
Wisconsin is connected to over 800+ miles of trails, that's enough
to even keep the die-hards busy. It stands to reason that the largest
county in the state would also have the most miles of groomed trails
in the state. The well-marked trail system allows you to roam the
country-side, scale Rib Mountain, and explore the heavily forested
areas of the county. Great trails don't just happen, and in Marathon
County it takes a team of 30 snowmobile clubs to operate 36 pieces
of grooming equipment totaling over $1 million. This investment
in equipment ensures well-groomed trails for a riding experience
that rivals any other in the state.
