Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 9-11 Base
Date of Report: January 2, 2026
Area Report:
All Washburn County snowmobile trails are officially open for the season. With the recent snow accumulations trails are now packed and groomed and now have a sustainable trail base. Additional snow accumulations have helped the trails out tremendously and grooming reports have been coming in with positive feedback. All trails across the County are Fair to Good in condition. If you encounter any trail issues such as downed trees, limbs, or debris, please report them to Washburn County Forestry at 715-635-4490.
Please be advised that on 1/1/2026 there was an incident on Long Lake, off of the boat landing on Blackhawk Road. The ice conditions at this time are very poor and a snowmobile broke through the ice at this location while out riding. At this time no trail route is marked out on Long Lake. The County does not have jurisdiction on Long Lake and is not responsible for marking out a trail across the lake, even though certain sections of Washburn County Snowmobile trails lead to accessing Long Lake, Washburn County Forestry does not maintain anything past the high ground point. Please use caution if you are out on any lake as they are not yet 100% safe.
Remember that grooming and maintenance activities continue throughout the season. Use caution while riding, watch for trail equipment, and enjoy the trails responsibly.
