Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – March 1, 2021

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 2-8″

Date of Report: March 1, 2021

Snowmobile Information:

The trails were doomed at 9:00 yesterday morning. Then it started to snow. I had almost 10″ on my deck yesterday afternoon, and the sun was out by 3:30. It came down hard. I ran 60 miles yesterday, and overall with no grooming, it was great. This morning I went to Lake Placid for breakfast, and took Fence Lake there, and came back up F and 17. Grooming by our Hornshoe special made these trails very nice. A couple of bare spots on 17 where there must have been puddles, but the change from Saturday to today is miraculous. High of 17 degrees today, then 41 tomorrow, and 38 and 39 the rest of the week. 45 this Sunday and 45 Monday and Tuesday. What we have won’t last long especially with little snow predicted. I am clearing my snow, then going on patrol.

Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – March 1, 2021

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Better!

Date of Report: March 1, 2021

Area Report:

The Sayner area received 6″ of good snow yesterday, with some areas of the county reporting even higher amounts.  This will improve our trail conditions greatly.  The Barnstormers will be doing a full groom tonight, which should leave our entire system in very good condition.

Today (Monday) is forecasted to be the last day with below freezing temps.  Starting tomorrow and for the rest of the week, the forecast is for highs in the upper 30s to low 40s with sunshine every day.  This will quickly have a negative impact on the system, so get out and ride now!!  We could possibly have another week left, or more if we can get another significant snowfall.  We’ll just have to wait and see how things play out.

  • Logging operations are continuing throughout the northwoods and in many areas where snowmobile trails are located.  Loggers have first priority!  PLEASE be respectful of them and make every attempt to stay out of their way.  DO NOT engage with them.  Loggers have a legal right to close any snowmobile trail where they are working.  They are being cooperative with the clubs and working with us the best they can.  PLEASE do not give them reason to close the trails.

Thank you for your patience and support.  Ride Right and Stay Safe!
