Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – February 10, 2021

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Better!

Date of Report: February 10, 2021

Area Report:

The Barnstormer trail system remains in overall good condition since the 10+ inch snowfall last week.  It really helped to fill in many of the ruts & holes we’d been dealing with.  The extreme cold temps and high traffic have severely reduced the moisture content of the snow that remains on the trails.  So, we can flatten things out, but it doesn’t set up or last as long as we’d like.

You’ll still find some great riding on the majority of our system.  The heavier traffic areas just don’t stay as good for long.  Trail 51 is in excellent condition and is holding up very well.  The rest are mostly in very good condition.  Trails close to town, such as between intersections 201 and 202 are taking the heaviest beating.  We could actually use some more “wet” snow!

Remember to join us at The Hillside Tavern on Sunday, 2/14/21 for our pizza fundraiser from 4:00 – 8:00.  They’ve got amazingly delicious pizza and you’ll help support the club.

  • Logging operations are continuing throughout the northwoods and in many areas where snowmobile trails are located.  Loggers have first priority!  PLEASE be respectful of them and make every attempt to stay out of their way.  DO NOT engage with them.  Loggers have a legal right to close any snowmobile trail where they are working.  They are being cooperative with the clubs and working with us the best they can.  PLEASE do not give them reason to close the trails.
  • Hintz’s North Star Lodge is currently closed.  Therefore, we have closed the trail leading to their establishment.  If and when they are open for business, we will reopen that trail.  Please respect them by not riding across their property.

Thank you for your patience and support.  Ride Right and Stay Safe!

Reporter:Threelakeswi

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 8-10”

Date of Report: February 10, 2021

Area Report:

The trail system is being groomed on a regular schedule now and they are in excellent condition. Everything is hard and flat. A few icy corners, and not much loose snow to keep sleds cool, so you may need some ice scratchers. Our system is 100% open. Please use caution as you may encounter a groomer during the day during this cold snap.
The lakes are all marked, however you might start to see some slush. Remember, the throttle is your friend when you hit slush. Stay close to the barrels for the safest ice.
