❄️❄️Hurley Area Snow Report Tuesday, February 11, 2020

Our trail boss from the White Thunder Riders called earlier to report that groomers have been out grooming from the weekend of activity and trails are in good shape.  At this time, there are no problem areas, but we always recommend to use caution.  Snow is in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures varying from mid 20’s dropping down to single digits.

We continue to hear good things about Mercer, Manitowish Waters, Vilas County and our neighbors to the east.

USE CAUTION ON THE LAKES AND FLOWAGES.

We have received multiple reports of “off trail riding”.

LISTEN — it’s pretty simple. Stay. On. The. Marked. Trail.

Those of you who continue to ride off trail are jeopardizing the trails for EVERYONE.  We welcome each of you to enjoy our area and scenic trails.  RESPECT our local landowners.

If you come upon a groomer WAIT for the groomer driver to come to a complete stop and signal for you to continue.

Show your appreciation by attending club events, not just ours but neighboring clubs as well.  Remember “United we Trail, Divided we Fail”

Upcoming Club Events:
White Thunder Riders Auction Fundraiser 2/15/20
Mercer Area Sno Goers Pizza Fundraiser at The Birches 2/15/20
Manitowish Sno Skeeters Winterfest 2/15/20
White Thunder Riders 50/50 Raffle Drawing at North Pole 3/7/20

Ride RIGHT.  Ride SAFE.  STAY together.

Hello Riders!!

All of our trails are open and in very good condition, with groomers out continuously getting the trails ready for this next weekend.  A good chance of snow is predicted for Wednesday, and cold temps all week.

All lake trails continue to be open, Do always ride with caution in areas of fast flowing water under the ice such as channels and stay on the marked trails. Lake Hayward is the only lake that is CLOSED to riding as the trail near the bridge and channel opened up. There are barriers at all of the entrances.

Thanks again to all you great club workers! Have another fun, safe and successful weekend!!

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 15-25”

Date of Report: February 11, 2020

Area Report:

Great news, all of our land trails are open. Trails are in excellent condition. Some icy corners and a little snirt may be encountered, but overall excellent conditions. We have a very good base. Trails are very hard and not much loose snow for lubrication or cooling. It might be a good idea to install a set of ice scratchers to kick up some snow to cool your sled down. Road routes are snow covered, some corners have a little ice. We are grooming on a nightly basis.

Remember it is law to yield to the groomer.

Very busy weekend coming up. Don’t forget about our second poker run this weekend, and weenie roast on Sunday. Checkout our Facebook page for all the details on those fun events.

Spirit, maple, townline, moccasin, round, crystal, island, and planting ground lakes are completely marked. Medicine and big stone lakes are partially marked. Stay within 10’ of the barrels to insure safe ice. If you don’t see barrels assume unsafe ice.

If you come across a tree that has fallen or something that you may see unsafe, please message us on Facebook. Please try and get the trail or the tin(trail identification number) that are located at all intersections.

Please be safe out there, it has been a horrific fall getting the trail system open this year with all the storms. We have thousands of hours getting trails ready for your safety and enjoyment.

If you like our trails, be sure to put a few dollars in our donation boxes in your favorite establishment, if you see something you don’t like, message us on Facebook and let us know, we will do what we can to fix it.

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Looks like winter

Date of Report: February 10, 2020

Area Report:

Trails have all been groomed last night and will be again tonight. There is quite a bit of traffic for midweek…but manageable. This weekend is President’s Day weekend so traffic will be heavy. We could have used a little of that fresh snow yesterday (only 1/2 inch) to refresh everything–maybe Wed. Trails are hard and fast–plenty of snow on them. Very Good to Excellent riding. A shout out to Phelps as they have successfully repaired there late freezing swamp on the east side of town. I rode it last night and it was excellent.

Trail Conditions: Good

Area Report:

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Trail report for February 10, 2020 – Trails are good. This morning the temp was 14 below zero. Very cold! With the very heavy traffic over the weekend and the lack of snow it was very hard to groom out a nice flat trail. The snow from the storm Sunday all went south of us and we just got a dusting.  It is expected to stay in the low 20’s for most of the day with highs in the high 20’s for the next couple of days so the snow on the trail should not melt. We will do what we can to groom out a good trail, but we really need more snow. We are expecting some more snow on Wednesday but will have to see how much we will get. Some corners are getting bare and icy so use caution.  Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.
