Winter Snowmobile and All-Season Trails (As of 2/14/2020)

Currently, ALL of Douglas County trails are open and are reporting great to excellent condition.  Please note, deer have been reported on trails, so please keep an eye out while traveling.

PLEASE check the trail you intend to use is open and do not trespass on private property. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property.  It just takes one owner to deny the use of their land for a trail to be permanently shut down, so please be courteous and wait for the trails to officially open.

The following all-season trails are currently open to ATV, UTV, and Snowmobiles:

Riding the trails at these temps can be very dangerous. Cold weather injuries and mechanical failures can occur very quickly. Use extreme caution! We were out grooming last night and will be out grooming throughout the weekend. With the lack of snow on the trail many spots and corners can be icy. No snow is expected until maybe Monday. Please join us at our breakfast fundraiser held at the Boulder Beer Bar this Sunday February 16, 2020 from 8:30 to 11:00. All proceeds go to trail maintenance so if you like great trails for snowmobiling, support this event! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

It’s President’s Weekend and the North Iron County Trails are in GOOD to EXCELLENT shape, ready for you to get out and enjoy!  This weekend is typically a busy traffic time so USE CAUTION.

We continue to hear good things about Mercer, Manitowish Waters, Vilas County and our neighbors to the east.

USE CAUTION ON THE LAKES AND FLOWAGES.

We have received multiple reports of “off trail riding”.

LISTEN — it’s pretty simple. Stay. On. The. Marked. Trail.

If you come upon a groomer WAIT for the groomer driver to come to a complete stop and signal for you to continue.

Be sure to support the local businesses that support the clubs —- you’ll know one right away with their current club membership certificate proudly displayed.

Show your appreciation by attending club events, not just ours but neighboring clubs as well.  Remember “United we Trail, Divided we Fail”

Upcoming Club Events:
White Thunder Riders Auction Fundraiser 2/15/20

Hello Riders!

Another weekend is sneaking upon us! And with it being a holiday weekend it will be a fun and exciting one with an extra day of riding for many! The groomers have been out running all week and we are in a cold snap today so those trails are froze down nice and flat! The Tuscobia, Flambeau, LCO/Grindstone, Round Lake, Seeley Hills, Moose Lake just to name a few GREAT groomed riding areas! No new substantial snow but a nice little bit on top to freshen things up and add to the lakes to help keep sleds cool. The lakes do  have some rough and slick spots so we advise sticking to the trail. Many rough areas on the lake trails have been worked down due to traffic but again, please ride with caution. Speaking of lakes there is a note about the Chippewa Flowage, they have dropped the level of the lake several feet so there will be stumps and sand bars that you normally wouldn’t see so again, really stick to the marked trail unless going to your lodging or favorite spots just keep your eyes peeled!

The temps will be great for riding this weekend so grab your gear and get out there!

SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN EAGLE RIVER
Good to Very Good on average – Some icy sections

Holy Moly it’s 18 below zero at 5:40am.  High of 12 today with a low of 3 tonight.  Tomorrow temps will come up a bit.  High of 28 with a low of 6.  Sunday 17 for a high & 3 for a low.  So winter isn’t going anywhere! Next SNOW is forecast for Monday. No reliable totals so stay tuned.

Groomer Tracking Systems (GTS Trails) reports shows all trails groomed last night with the exception of 9Mi trail off of 10E and the Wisconsin River Bridge section of 10W/13N.  Everything is ready for this President’s Weekend!

Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked.  Eagle Lake a little chop but nothing bad.  Icy with blow off of snow in some sections.  Please slow down.

Yesterday was the return trip to Eagle River from Florence county for the Sno-Eagles Weekday Away.  Left the Doll House Bed & Breakfast shortly after 9:30am with temps just a bit below zero.  After riding through the City trails in Florence we picked up trail F2 that took us to trail 6.  Trail 6 was freshly groomed & EXCELLENT all the way to the trail intersection of 6 & trail that heads south to Long Lake. There we said goodbye to 2 of the riders as they head south & home.  Heading east on 6 from the intersection all the way to the connect with the Three Lakes/Brule River trails was GOOD.  The Three Lakes/Brule River trail 6 was also freshly groomed & EXCELLENT all the way to the trail 10 intersection with the Eagle River trails.  10 section of the Eagle River trail were EXCELLENT to the Hwy 70 crossing off of South Military Rd.  One more rider dropped off to head home on Military road. From there the trails were GOOD to VERY GOOD with some small chop.  We dropped off at our house with the rest of riders heading into Eagle River.

A special Thank You to Iron Man Ron Engels for being our leader!

Now as for Eagle River.  It’s President’s Weekend & time to ride!

KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!!  P.S. Here’s to no evil sun!

See you on the trails!

Hello Riders!!

All of our trails are open and in very good condition, with groomers out continuously getting the trails ready for this weekend.

All lake trails continue to be open, Do always ride with caution in areas of fast flowing water under the ice such as channels and stay on the marked trails. Lake Hayward is the only lake that is CLOSED to riding as the trail near the bridge and channel opened up. There are barriers at all of the entrances.

Thanks again to all you great club workers! Have another fun, safe and successful weekend!!
