Area Report:

Good morning we just got back in from grooming it was a long night with all the trees and branches in the trail. There are some wet spots on the trails so please be careful while riding and remember we just got 2 days of rain and now wet heavy snow. However trails are in good shape. Both swamps on trail 12 on the power line heading to Dublin’s has open water holes . People have been sneaking around the outside but be very careful if you attempt to go that way . I will work on clearing some brush to possibly make a little better route around the water and maybe some hay bales in the water holes in a couple hours but I have to get some sleep quick. I broke open the swamp heading to maple view off trail 3 and shoveled a bunch of snow in so please stay off so it can freeze. I am trying to get a route to Chicago Avenue so you can get to maple view. Pioneer lake is marked now I was told. trail 12 through the cemetery is still closed. Please ride safe and smart while we get the trails back in shape. Thank you your trail boss Chad

Trail Report – : Spooner and Washburn County, Wisconsin – December 31, 2019

Reporter:Washburn County

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: 2 -10

Date of Report: December 31, 2019

Area Report:

Most Washburn County Snowmobile Trails are open but in poor condition. With recent rain and higher temperatures, our current base is 2 to 10 inches.  Even with snow currently falling, trail conditions will not begin to improve until temperatures remain below freezing. Trail #34 near the Barron County line is closed at this time. All other Washburn County Snowmobile trails are technically open.

Please note that lake ice is not safe at this time, including Long Lake and the Spider Lake Chain. Please use caution in swamps and wet areas as there may be standing water. When in doubt, turn around. Check back for updates.

Trail Report – : Lake Gogebic | Bergland, Michigan – December 31, 2019

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: Good

Date of Report: December 31, 2019

Area Report:

Received over a foot of snow yesterday which would have been much more welcomed had it not been for the warmer temps that created open water areas.    It’s still snowing with temps in the high teens which could drop to single digits later today.   Let’s hope.    Snow is in the forecast daily with a significant (12-24”) forecasted for Jan 4-9.

Currently:

  • Trail 1 N has some wet spots.
  • Trail 8 between Bergland and Wakefield is CLOSED due to water on the trail. Advised not to ride this trail at all until it freezes.   If heading west, take the West shore to Marenisco.
  • Trail 13 North: groomed last night.
  • Trail 8W groomed last night.

Most of all the trails have some type of water issues.  Groomers are out now in Marenisco seeing what needs to be fixed, so please use caution while our guys assess and fix.     Snow cover is making is more difficult to see water areas.   Everyone is doing all they can – please do your part and be smart when out riding.

There’s a bunch of parties here on Lake Gogebic where you can spend New Years twice in two different time zones!     Kick of the night on the North Shore and then head it down the lake for some live entertainment at the Gogebic Lodge!     Wherever you go, however you get there – please be safe.    The New Year is here and we don’t want anything happening to anyone!    Look after each other and keep an eye out for anyone who may need assistance.

Also, please consider supporting the clubs where you ride – all these clubs with their groomers and volunteers are turning this white stuff into an amazing playground and it’s a huge effort!

From everyone here in the Lake Gogebic area – we wish you and yours a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Northwoods Hi-Riders

The trails around the Solberg Lake area are in poor riding condition due to the recent warm weather, rain, and heavy snow. There are significant wet spots on 141 just east of Solberg Lake, some of the swamps have opened and will need to be packed down again and freeze up before any grooming can occur. There is no grooming going on currently until we get colder weather. Solberg Lake is very inconsistent and has water and slush in many areas over the original ice. The lake is NOT marked, and it is advised that riders avoid traveling on it. Trails in highland areas are rideable and they are generally better further north. We need a few cold nights to firm things up again so grooming can continue. Stay tuned.

Ashland County Snowmobile Report December 30, 2019
Ashland County trails are reported poor condition and not being groomed at this time.  Be cautious in the swampy areas for standing water.  Please bear with us and STAY ON THE TRAILS.  Be respectful of the farmers land! Stay on trail, as much of the Ashland County snowmobile trail system uses private property and could be lost if the property owners experiences issues. The most common complaints are snowmobiles not staying on trails or going off into fields that are not part of the trail, and loud noise from non-stock muffler systems. Respect the trail system so that it remains open. The Tri-county corridor is open
