All Clark County snowmobile trails are CLOSED.  Please be aware riding on closed trails is trespassing and fines apply, not to mention it could cause long term trail closures! Picture

News and Reports:

We have received some snowcover, trails are in the process of being signed and will be awaiting more snow to open.

Snowmobile Information:

Our club has been active for 31 years now.  We started out as a small club in 1988 named The Neillsville Rec Riders, designing ATV routes that accessed the Clark County Forest Trail System, via roads.  We then created our first cross county un-groomed snowmobile and winter ATV trail system from Neillsville to Granton.  In 1993 we purchased a used Bombardier groomer to start grooming our trail for snowmobiling.  In 1996 we expanded our snowmobile and winter ATV trail system from Neillsville to the Clark County Forest Trail near Hatfield. 

    In 1997 we added a tractor and new drag to our grooming fleet to keep up with the grooming schedule.  In 1999 we further expanded our growing trail system with a snowmobile trail running from Granton to Sherwood.  In 2001 we made a big achievement in trail devolpement by creating a snowmobile trail from Neillsville to Loyal, giving us a total of 56 miles in groomed snowmobile trails across private lands.   In 2002 we had to add a second tractor and drag to keep up with the high grooming demand.  After receiving heavy, drifting snows during the ’06-’08 seasons while continuing to get stuck with our tractors, we felt the need to add a newer tracked groomer to our fleet.

  We purchased a Piston Bully trailer groomer to keep up with the demanding trail grooming where our tractors fell short, in deep snow and eliminated 1 tractor and drag!  We groom our trails 20′ wide where ever possible and they are the best marked in the county, you won’t get lost on our trail system!   In 2010, we had to cease the operation of winter ATV use on all of our snowmobile trails, due to increasing abuse from disrespectful ATV’ers creating problems on private lands. Moving forward in 2011 we strive to keep up with the best snowmobile trails in the county and that is out main focus moving on.  Upgrading in 2017 we purchased a 2007 Prinoth BR180 tracked groomer adding two tracked machines to our fleet.

 The Clark County Forest ATV and Snowmobile Trails are maintained by the Parks and Forest Department as well as the 9 other clubs that maintain the rest of the trails in Clark County.  Our club would not be where it is today without the help and permission of the 89 landowners who allow us to cross their lands.  With out them we would have no trails.  All of our members that help out, donate their time and it is much appreciated when we get compliments on how well of a job we have done.

Winter Snowmobile and All-Season Trails (As of 12/6/2019)

Snowfalls from the past week have left our area with up to 24″ of snow in many places, however, many trails remain CLOSED to snowmobile traffic at this time until the clubs can get out there and properly groom and prepare the trails for use. The clubs and the Douglas County Forestry Department are actively working on preparing and inspecting trails for safe frozen conditions in wet areas, removal of any deadfalls, and proper signing before opening. PLEASE check the trail you intend to use is open and do not trespass on private property. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property.  It just takes one owner to deny the use of their land for a trail to be permanently shut down, so please be courteous and wait for the trails to officially open. 

The following all-season trails are currently open to ATV, UTV, and Snowmobiles:

Cross Country Ski Trails (As of 12/4/2019)

Douglas County Ski Trails – All service roads and parking lots are plowed. Crews have started packing the trails, but they are not ready to be groomed yet. Additional updates will be provided once they are groomed. 

Superior Municipal Forest – All trails north of 42nd Street (Red, Green, Blue, and Millennium) are groomed. Red and Green have been tracked. Inner purple is freshly groomed and packing has started on outer purple. Access to the 42nd parking lot is open. 

Pattison State Park –  No data at this time.

Brule River After Hours Trail –  Groomers have been out all week working on trails. All trails are open except White Pine, Little Joe, and Nebagamon Creek.

Hello Riders!

No new news as the private property trails are still not yet open and lakes and swamps are defiantly not safe and have standing water, however the county land wooded and town trails ARE OPEN and the clubs and Alliance are looking for anyone to volunteer to ride those safe trails and pack them down! Riding on these before groomers and while freezing is a great way to pack down a base and help set the trail up. So if you’re itching to ride hop on and do a little volunteer riding!

A few crews went out today and packed them down, was some work getting through that deep heavy snow and took some extra gas but they sure enjoyed getting out and getting a taste for the next season! The groomer has been on the Tuscobia (this trail only, no side trails, do not go on those yet) and one east of Hayward ran a test ride tonight. They’ll continue to check and update!

Western U P Snowmobile Trail Report—

Our temps for Saturday and Sunday will be around 30.  Next week the temps will be much colder with a high on Tuesday  -2.  This should help with our wet spots.  All clubs are out working on the trails.

Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club

Dec. 6, 2019

Trail 2 from Hurley to Wakefield was groomed last night. Please ride in front of the Wakefield VFW Post 9084 the trail does not go behind the bar like previous years. Trail 8 was groomed from Wakefield to our turn around with Lake Gogebic. Their section of 8 remains hazardous with water holes, they continue to winch sleds out of it. We will groom to Marenisco this evening and working on 160 again today. Please stay on the trails and across our system small water hazards remain. Looking at next week, water issues won’t be around long!

 

Lake Gogebic Area Groomers

Dec 6,2019

Gogebic Area Grooming received new equipment this week and have been out breaking trails!    We have cold temps and plenty of snow in the forecast – a great recipe for our early season riders!

Trails 13 North and South got hit yesterday! The drag went up 13 North and Marenisco’s Groomer went South on 13 breaking trails once more. Trail 100 and 102 also got hit yesterday.

Trail 8W between Bergland and Wakefield is wet as usual. If you cross the trail to the ditch, your going to swim….. Would advised only paddle track sleds to break trail at this time on 8W. Also if you ride the shoulder of the road, expect a ticket… We are going to try to break trail very soon…. We need some cold weather first to freeze it up and anticipate if should be in good shape by next weekend.

Trail 8E:   is open but it sure is ride at your own risk!

Trail 102: there is a new reroute about 4 miles before trail 11.  The trail is marked well and the reroute was a very nice turn out.     (Temporary Re-Route)

Past the Root Cellar, there is more logging. You will have to travel on East Shore Rd approximately 2 mile further then before to get back onto trail 13.  A new reroute will take place.  Please follow the signs marked 13.   (Permanent Re-Route for the 2019-2020 Season).

Trail 100: Logging is happening between Stagecouch Rd and the Slate River (very end of Lake Gogebic)   Marshall Creek Bridge has been fixed so you can get to Marenisco from trail 100. (Permanent for 2019-2020 season)

Trail 1 from Trail 100 to Trail 8: Closed until further notice as logging is taking place until the end of December.

Watersmeet U P Thunder Riders

Trail Report – : Spooner and Washburn County, Wisconsin – December 6, 2019

Area Report:

Washburn County Snowmobile Trails remain closed at this time. We received more than 16 inches of snow during the recent storms, so the club volunteers are busy checking the trails, freezing down swamps and grooming in anticipation for trail opener.  If favorable weather conditions continue, some snowmobile trails are anticipated to open on Thursday, December 12th, following the muzzle-load gun deer season. Check back for updates.

The Price County area offers some of the best trails in the state, along with very nice restaurants, resorts and shopping experiences. Whether your out on the trails Snowmobiling, ATVing, Snowshoeing, Hiking, Biking or Skiing you and the family will have a great time in Price County.
                                                                     

Snowmobile Trail Conditions

The Price County Trails are still Officially closed for the season. The Park Falls Area Trails are scheduled to open on December 16th. There is a lot of snow but the clubs have to get everything ready. Swamps need to be packed, many creeks and streams are still open. Trails around the area have started to open, Tuscobia in Sawyer county and the Iron County Trails are open.
Two large storms dropped over 20″ last week over the area.

It wont be long !!!!

Price County has 500 miles of trail, maintained by 9 volunteer clubs. You’ll find beautiful scenery and wildlife along the trail system to enhance your experience.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to the 2019-20 snowmobile season!   We had plenty of early snowfall in the months of October/ November but now of course nothing to report in December.   At this time that is a good thing as many of our counties clubs are busy trying to get our trails marked.   With the rough fall for farmers we are still waiting on many fields to be harvested so we can get our signs out in the fields.   At this time our county is reporting that 5-30% of our trails are marked and many clubs will be out in the coming weeks to try and get everything marked before the holidays.   If anyone is looking to lend a hand please visit the WCSA website and contact us.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  if you are looking to join a club please see our club list on the website as well!  Many of the clubs in our area also have their own Facebook pages that you can reach out to us directly to join the club or lend a hand!   Here is the website: http://www.walworthcountysnow.com/home.html  It is our hope to have all of our trails marked at before the holidays.  Then all we will need is snow!  We will report back shortly with updates!

Trail Report – : Eagle River, Wisconsin – December 6, 2019

Snow Cover: 19 inches wet packy snow off trail – panned trails have about 12 inches

December 6, 2019 – 7:00 am

SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN EAGLE RIVER 
& ALL OF VILAS COUNTY ARE NOT OPEN. 

All clubs in Vilas county are panning &  packing the swamps & wet areas. Plenty of SNOW from the 2 Thanksgiving storms.  19 inches plus or minus off the trail 10-12 inches on the trails after panning. Groomer is out panning.  Club members are out clearing trees & brush.  If this snow hold the trails are going to be fantabulous when they open. Yesterday there was a schiff that just covered the vehicles.

Sunday the temps will pop up & bring SNOW both Sunday & Monday.  Then all of next week the temps will keep dropping with next Wednesday bringing 1 below for a high & 8 below overnight.  Might even be some SNOW today!

Trail inspections began at the beginning of this week.  It takes 10-11 days to get all of the 11 clubs trails inspected.

Be Patient.  Won’t be long now! See ya on the trails sometime in mid-December.
