There is a new trail to Solon Springs (Trail 27B).  Where the trail meets Business Highway 53, snowmobilers must use the road shoulders and not the railroad property to access the railroad crossing on Main Street.  Snowmobilers have and will continue to be ticketed for operating on the railroad’s property.*

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Date of Report: February 12, 2019

Area Report:

We’ve received a foot and a half of snow in the last week, and it looks like we are forecasted for about 12” today.     Jim says he feels like he’s living in a big snow globe.    He’s actually been out riding and reports that trails are in “beautiful” shape and it really could not get any better.    He was down at the South end of the lake on Monday and did mention that the only bad spot they encountered was on the 100 due to logging.    He also mentioned that he’s never seen the trails in the Watersmeet area look as great with the exception of a wet area 2 miles west of Watersmeet on Trail #2.

Gogebic Area Groomers were out last night and report that all trails are in good to excellent condition.   This is a great time of the week to ride as there is a lot less traffic.

Trail Conditions as reported on Tuesday, February 12th:

  • Trail 1N to White Pine: Excellent condition. Groomed last night
  • Trail 8 East: Excellent condition.
  • Trail 8 West just groomed and in excellent condition.
  • Trail 102: Good to Excellent
  • Trail 13n: Good to excellent.  Groomed last night
  • Trail 13S from Root Cellar to Trail 2 – excellent condition.
  • Trail 1 South – excellent condition – groomed last night

Valentine’s Day and President’s Day Weekend is upon us – and we love that you love to Ride the 906!     So on this busy holiday weekend, please show some love out on our trails and on our lake and use good judgement.    Don’t drink and ride!

Some friendly reminders:

  • KNOW before you GO.  Take a couple extra minutes before you head out to check a map and plan out the day.
  • Stop at all stop signs – completely stop at all stop signs. Look left-right-left.
  • Please remember to ride RIGHT and ride TOGETHER
  • Taking into account the above – consider that the snow we are currently getting is fluffy and creates a large powder cloud, so allow extra space between riders due to reduced visibility.
  • Riding on / along Michigan highways is illegal and if you are caught you will receive a large fine. (THIS MEANS M28 and M64!)
  • Only off-trail ride where you 100% know it is legal
  • Pipelines and power lines are NOT public land!
  • Please keep speeds and noise low through towns.

Area Report:

Here are your current conditions:
Lots of fresh snow this week again. You may encounter a icy corner. Everything is in excellent shape. Now is the time to ride. Trails are excellent. Watch out for low hanging branches. All trails are being groomed 4-5 times a week. Trails have a great hard base. May develop some icy corners as the day goes on.

Please, slow down and limit your drinking. Way too many fatalities in northern Wisconsin, and they all can be prevented.

Lakes are all marked. Remember, stay as close to the barrels as possible. If you don’t see barrels, assume they are not safe.

Please respect our private landowners and stay on the trail. We have had a couple issues this year already and it always puts our trails in danger.

Use caution at all road crossing as they are icy.

Check our Facebook page for information about the new hoodies and T-shirt’s we have for sale.

SNO-EAGLES TRAILS OPEN!
Trails Very Good to Excellent

February 12 2019 6:00am – 16 – High 17 – Light SNOW

Here comes more SNOW! Checking weather sites the weather guys are forecasting 6-9 inches of SNOW today into tonight.  After grooming the trails will be fantastic.

Trails are in great shape.  Very few problems to report.  Might find a few sections that have a bit of chop.  If the traffic picks up with the depth of the SNOW there could be bumps.  Riding found a few areas with low level snirt.  These are the areas where the SNOW just can’t get down onto the trails in some thicker woods. Road crossing have improved.  But with the new SNOW just starting to fall road crews will be out sanding & treating the roads so the snirt at the crossings could increase.  Did also find a few corners where the ice base was exposed by blow out.  Very slippery.  So please slow down.

Heading into some great riding temps.  Today 17.  Wednesday 26. Thursday 27.  Friday 15. Forecast for single digits at night maybe a 1 or 2 below in the mix.  Great riding weather.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.  There was wind Sunday evening so there could be some moguls.  Be safe & slow down.

Been mentioning this all season:

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails.  10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs.  Plus trail signs are backwards if you are going the wrong way.

Thanks for THINKING SNOW!!!  Are you riding?  If not why?
See ya on the trails!
