Trail report for February 18, 2019– Trails are very good. Over the weekend we had very heavy traffic on our trails. The snow was somewhat soft but with the colder temps at night the trail stiffened up. Our groomers were out last night and early this morning so our trails should be very nice for a ride today. The corners and other areas are icy. Please use caution. We are expecting more snow in the middle of this week and will have to wait to see how much we get. This will help freshen up the trails. Yesterday we had our Fundraiser Breakfast at the Boulder Beer Bar. I would like to thank the Beer Bar Staff, all the volunteers, and everyone that came out to support us and made this event very successful. Thank you very much. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Here in Cedarville we had 6″ of snow yesterday and last night. There is a lot of ice under the fresh snow so we will NOT groom at this time depending on this week maybe we can get the tractor out by the weekend. They are calling for more snow on Wednesday but up to 33 and on Saturday 37 and a chance of RAIN so that is why we are going to hold off. If you do ride, the trail to Winslow is flooded by the river and trail has reroute along road, Be careful as there is a lot of ice under snow. PLEASE ride safe and stay on marked trails. PLEASE FEED the trail boxes as every little bit helps. If we have any change I will update.

SNO-EAGLES TRAILS OPEN!
Trails Good

February 18 2019 8:08am – 3 – High 16

The President’s weekend comes to a close.  One of the busiest I have seen in a long time!  3 days off for many of you & deep SNOW in Eagle River!

Next SNOW is forecast for Wednesday with the weather guys forecasting 3-5 inches.  Looks like SNOW for next weekend.  But it is early & we all know the weather guys do not always get it right.  So stay tuned.

It’s February & the evil sun is out longer & will be out today.  The sun will crust up the SNOW a little.  Cold again tonight. 5 below.

Groomers were out again to get the trails back in shape after the busy weekend.  Remember they work long hours grooming so we can ride.  Give them a thumbs up.

  • 10E to include 9 mile
  • 13N to Conover turn around
  • 10/13/3 aka Manske Swamp
  • 17N
  • 10W/7 to Sayner/St. Germain turn around
  • 3/Alt13 to Three Lakes turn around
  • 10W/13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge

There are still some low hanging branch on the trails.  Most of the road crossings have high banks.  So take it slow & please stop at the road & driveway crossings. The sun will soften up the SNOW.  With the ice base underneath it can make riding squirrely. Might even dart around a little.  Didn’t see any other problem areas.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.  There was wind Sunday evening so there could be some moguls.  Be safe & slow down.

Been mentioning this all season:

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails.  10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs.  Plus trail signs are backwards if you are going the wrong way.

Thanks for THINKING SNOW & riding in Eagle River!!!  Remember mid week riding is the best!
See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Florence County, Wisconsin – February 17, 2019

Reporter:Blue OxTrailriders

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 26-30″

Date of Report: February 17, 2019

Area Report:

We have received a lot of snow since my last report. With the dry powdery snow has come a lot of drifting. This accounts for the many moguls on the trails which drift back over right behind the groomers. Many of the schools in the area have been closed for quite a few days in the past few weeks due to these conditions. Our groomers are putting in a lot of hours especially with one of our groomers out of service for over a week.

Hopefully this next week will be better without the drifting problem we have had in the past week. Most of the sledders that are fans of our great trails will understand that there really was no way to stop the drifting and moguls that have occurred this past week. We are very proud of our trails and the hard work and many hours these dedicated people put into keeping our trails in the best condition they can possibly be in.

Be safe out there, watch for groomers and drive sober. F15 has not been groomed. This is the groomer that is down and has a smaller drag to fit in between the trees on that trail.

Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – February 16, 2019

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 30 PLUS in the woods

Date of Report: February 16, 2019

Area Report:

Our trails right this minute are great as far as having snow on them. However they are bumpy ……..

Our tracks machine has been giving us problems for about 2 weeks now. We were provided with a replacement/loaner. It worked well for a short time and then it gave problems. The problem with our machine is in the computer and more specifically – the Diesel Exhaust Fluid system. This is the worst possible time to have problems with the track machine when we have so much snow to deal with.

Year after year, we have had icy conditions to deal with. Up until this year we have been running tire chains on the front of our wheel machines. They work great with the ice and in deep snow – but – are very high maintenance. So this year we went with different tires and installed ice studs. They also work great in icy conditions but not so well with deep snow conditions. So we had a wheel machine slip off the trail a couple times.

We are supposed to have another track machine delivered in the morning. We will put it to work and cover as much of our trail system as quickly as humanly possible.

We sincerely apologize to everyone – but – these equipment issues are beyond our control.
