Temps look to drop again starting tomorrow and there’s snow in the forecast on Thursday. We will have to wait and see how much. We could use snow – and until then don’t recommend riding.
Gogebic area trails will have a couple closure/reroutes: Trail 1 north of the West shore Resort is being logged this year. We are working with timber management to get a possible reroute for trail 1 to trail 8 East. Also trail 100 to connect to trail 13 is being logged this year. We are also working on a possible reroute for this as well. We were advised that they would try to accommodate us buy logging first thing and giving us access as fast as possible. As this closes our trails down for the time being, it’s nice to know that soon we will have a wide open trail to run with no brushing, and wider trails.
We will keep you posted on the progress made for the reroutes! In the meantime – we just wait for snow!!! Get those presents wrapped, and get all your holiday preparations done so that when it hits, you’ll be ready to head to Lake Gogebic and celebrate this Holiday Season.
Dance to Heikki Lunta – she is our Upper Peninsula snow God and we could use her help!

We did start packing trails. The warm weather of the last three days is not helping freeze wet areas and is taking the snow we had.
Lots of water on trails going south to Kinross and around town.

THE FLOWAGE HAS NOT BEEN MARKED !!!!! we will check it out this weekend, right now the trails leading to it are in poor condition. We like to mark it all at once [over 20 miles ] as of today it is not safe enough for us to do this. You will see tracks out there, most are from fishermen that as a rule check the thickness as they go
BE SAFE

Trails are still closed due to lack of snow. ATV’s and UTV’s may ride the trails north of Hwy C. The weather has been warm so the little bit of snow we did have is disappearing fast. Nothing of any amount is in the forecast.
Our new tractor is ready and being picked up today. The chains will be put on today and we will be ready to go once the weather cooperates.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all…

With the recent warm spurt most snow is gone throughout Washburn County. We will need a good amount of snow to begin building with a good base. Hopefully the flakes will start to fall again soon so the trail base can get up to grooming standards. We look forward to another great winter of snowmobiling in Washburn County! Keep thinking snow!
