Trail Report – : Crivitz, Wisconsin – February 26, 2018

Reporter:ironsnowshoe

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 2 to 4 inches

Date of Report: February 26, 2018

Area Report:

WOW!  What a weekend!  Between the ice base that was on the trail and the little bit of snow and sleet that we received, everyone agreed that the trails were much better than expected.  Friends and I rode almost 300 miles over the weekend…mostly in the Iron Snowshoe area.  Then to top it off, another 2+ inches of snow came early Sunday, which made the riding even better!

The groomers were out yesterday, last night and early this morning.  They report back that the trails are in the best condition they have been in all season.

Ride with caution…some icy corners…some water showing up here and there.

The bunny in the woods was found this weekend.  However, there are still other bunnies to be found along the trail.  If fact, I’m going to go put some more out today.  Good luck.

We will keep you informed…I am going riding…

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 9 new inches of snow last few days – hard base

Date of Report: February 26, 2018

Area Report:

February 26, 2018 – 8:05am

TRAILS IN GOOD CONDITION
Plenty of new SNOW

Plenty of SNOW in Eagle River!  Easy 9 inches of SNOW in the last few days. Wet packy snow.  17 degrees at 8:00am which is great but the evil sun is out.  Not so good.  High of 41 today.  Another not so good.  It’s ride when we got it time of the season. Time to ride, ride, ride right now.

Trails groomed last night are:

  • In town trails
  • 70W/13
  • 17S to Sugar Camp turn around
  • 7 aka Paintball Field
  • 10W/13N to include Wisconsin River Bridge
  • 3 aka Manske Swamp
  • 17N.

Under the new SNOW is an icy base so be aware.  Also on the weekends the traffic is high.  Stay on your side all the time as you ride.  Last, at road crossings stop & look both ways.  The snowbanks are high and there may be areas where the trail is plowed shut at the crossings.  Riders that rode last night report blown out corners with a mix of excellent to fair riding.  As it warms up today it will get mushy out there and conditions will degrade.

Trail 1N logging operation continues in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake. With the log piles and icy grainy conditions in that section it would be good to slow down. Minimal grooming due to the logging operation.

Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails are marked with orange easy to see reflective barrels.  Please stay by the barrels to be safe.  Spoke to several riders this morning & no surface slush to report.  Reminder that the Catfish Lake Trail that ran from Braywood to Lumpy’s is not open.  Please do not trespass on private land.

Holy moly!  Keep Dancin!
See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – February 26, 2018

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 2-3″ of packed trail base

Date of Report: February 26, 2018

Area Report:

The Rhinelander area received close to a foot of fresh snow since Friday morning.  The trails were in the best shape of the season this weekend.

The weather is going to take a toll on them this week.  It is calling for above average temperatures the whole work week.  The trail conditions will change depending on how much the sun shines.  The trail conditions will be updated as they change.

If you can get out and ride this week, I would take some time off and ride.  They are in good shape, but are not going to be this way forever.

The groomers will be out on the trails, weather permitting.

Trail Report – : Washburn County, Wisconsin – February 24, 2018

Reporter:Washburn County

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 5-10 inch base

Date of Report: February 24, 2018

Area Report:

All of the Washburn County snowmobile trails are OPEN! Trails are in excellent condition with a 6 to 10 inch base. Thursday evening brought a fresh 4 to 6 inches of powder – the new snow is a great addition to the already good base and the forecast is calling for more snow over the weekend! The base might be a little slim at road crossings as we had a snowy dirt mixture before the new snow. Always use caution on the trails as volunteers are out grooming the trails to keep up with all the new snow we’ve received, please note that some of the trails may not be groomed yet due to the timing of the snow fall. Enjoy the trails!
