Trail Report: Crivitz, Wisconsin – January 4, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: about 10 inches

Area Report:

We rode yesterday from Crooked Lake to Silver Cliff and then south to Twin Bridge, then back to Crooked Lake. It was about a 60 mile run. Overall, it was a good ride. There are still areas that need snow, but very rideable in those areas. With the two inches, plus of snow, the groomers did head out this morning. So far, I am receiving messages back from the groomers that the North, South and Central part of our trail system is reported to be in good condition. There are a few areas that still need more snow. I am rating the trail as GOOD since about 95% is in good condition and very rideable.

Good news…the two areas of logging that were going on between Boat Landing 9 and Old Veterans Park seems to be over. This is where the snow is thin, but very passable.

Trail Report: Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – January 4, 2017

Area Report:

January 4, 2017 Trail Report- Boulder trails are in fair condition. We did not get the snow on Monday that we were expecting. Our Groomers will be out tonight and tomorrow morning to smooth out the trails but we do need more snow to improve our trail conditions. Please use caution out there. We may get a little lake effect snow in the next couple of days and any significant amount will help. Our groomers will do the best they can with the current conditions. WE NEED SNOW! Ride Safe!

This Saturday, January 7th The Granary Family Restaurant is hosting a brat for the club! Join us from 11-2 for brats, hotdogs, and chili. You can purchase a meal including brat/hotdog, chili, chips, and dessert or an individual brat. We will also have club clothing and raffle tickets available at the event. You can reach the Granary by snowmobile on trail 15S or by car on Hwy M in Boulder Junction. All proceeds from this event go towards maintaining the trails in the Boulder Junction trail system. Well our typical January thaw has come and gone and we are now starting over. Trails were open for 12 days before Christmas so I guess we cannot complain as that rarely happens around here. There are still some drifted spots that are holding some snow but most spots are down to bare ground. Basically we are starting over. Cold weather arrived last night with temperatures in the single digits. We will be getting some much needed frost in the ground now. But we need more snow! Will update when we receive more snow. Hopefully we will get going again here sooner than later, until then THINK SNOW! Happy New Year!

Trail Report: Three Lakes – Brule River, Wisconsin – January 4, 2017

Trails are looking really good out there after one a extremely busy holiday week. Our volunteers have done a outstanding job grooming the trails for yet another great riding weekend coming up. Trail 13 is still closed, hopefully after this cold snap it will freeze up. Lakes are froze and marked. Make your plans now and come on up and ride.

Trail Report: Sugar Camp, Wisconsin – January 4, 2017

Area Report:

Trail’s in Sugar Camp are in good riding conditions. All lakes in the Sugar Camp trail system are now marked with orange barrels and are safe for snowmobile traffic. Remember to stay close to barrels when crossing lakes. Some corners are getting icy so use caution coming into them. Also use caution in swampy and low lying areas as groomers have not been able to get in these areas yet as swamps are not freezing up very well these are short sections that have to be tolerated until more cold arrives to freeze them up for groomers to start going into them. Please remember to stay on marked designated trails as you ride.A big portion of these trails cross private property and without these generous landowners letting the trails go through their property snowmobiling in the northwoods would not exist. Leave a good footprint as you ride and remember to buy your annual trail pass before you ride the trails. United we trail divided we fail.

Trail Report: Forest County, Wisconsin – January 4, 2017

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-6 inches

Area Report:

We had about 4 inches of good wet snow Monday and it really helped the trails. Most of our system is rated GOOD to VERY GOOD. There are some hilly, wooded spots that could use a little more snow but, generally are short sections and will not spoil your ride. Swamps are still a problem in some areas so ride with caution. The sub-zero temperatures the rest of the week should help firm them up for the groomers.

Trail conditions will vary throughout the county so please ride safely and responsibly. Use caution when riding on lakes or frozen water as ice conditions can vary greatly.

The clubs that maintain the Forest County Trail System are made up of volunteers who work very hard to provide the best trails possible. Please respect them while on the trail and allow them to do their job. If you come across the groomer, please giver them some extra room. It is a lot easier to move a sled off the trail than 40 feet of tractor and drag.

Remember, TRAILS ARE GROOMED DAY AND NIGHT.

Trail Report: Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin – January 4, 2017

We rode through MW, Boulder and Arbor Vitae trails yesterday. I would call our trails fair to good. We groomed the entire trail#6 today (twice) so it is a lot better now. That’s the trail between MW and Winchester (see picture from today) Thank you for your patience. We got another 4″ of snow last night so things are shaping up nicely. We could still use more snow, but us snowmobilers are greedy that way: we want “all the snow” A big thank you to all the groomers and volunteers who have worked their butts off to get our trails in good shape! Also a big thank you to the MW Chamber for mailing out Snowmobile Maps for the Club!

Lincoln County snowmobile trails are partially OPEN.

Lincoln County ZONE 1 snowmobile trails are OPEN with the exception of Corridor 19 South of Highway 86 and Corridor 17 South of Highway J. ALL other funded trails in Zones 2 and 3 remain closed. Trails in wooded areas are in fair condition,with the exception of some low lying areas which may be rough.

Trails in open fields may be drifted and lacking snow cover. Use EXTREME caution in these areas and expect early season riding conditions throughout the trail system. PLEASE stay on marked trails. The trail are in early season,rough condition. PLEASE respect private land!

Trails designated as winter ATV trails in these areas are OPEN to ATV use but are closed to winter ATV use when temperature is above 28 degrees F.

Oneida County snowmobile trails are OPEN. Trail conditions are considered in early season,rough condition.

Bad News: Still 1 groomer down and Trail Boss rates trails as poor to fair

Good News: It is cold and yesterday the trails were groomed flat–but brownish in areas. Should give us a hard fast base if we could get a little lake effect snow things will improve fast on the Frosty Club trails. There is good riding to be found.
