Reporter:BayfieldCounty
Trail Conditions: Good
Snow Cover: 6-12
Date of Report: February 17, 2022
Area Report:

Everyone got a little bit of fresh snow last week which was much welcomed. There’s some more snow in the forecast for early next week. Trails just might be in the best condition of the season in the next week or so. Just need temps to stay cold. This weekend is the Northern Pines Dog Sled Race in Iron River which uses part of the Tri-County corridor. A reroute will be marked so keep your eyes open for that. Just a reminder to all to please respect private landowners and stay on the trail. Stay on the trail or stay home!

Some trouble spots to note:

  • The Wally Polk Trail/Trail 40 near Port Wing and Herbster is closed. Flag road is a suitable re-route.

Namakagon Trail Groomers: Last week we received 4-5″ of “good” snow! Sitting on 4-5″ base. Trails are in good condition.

Barnes Barnestormers: Thanks to the snow we received last Thursday, the trails are in great shape. We will be grooming all week, should be a good weekend to ride.

Drummond Sno-jacks: All trails have been groomed as of Sunday (2/13/2022) night. Will start again this Friday before the bar stool race weekend, the Drummond snow jacks club event, and groom through into Sunday. All trails are in great shape lots of good things said from snowmobilers.

Iron River: Trails in the Iron River area are very good but still dirty on south side of highway 2 trails north of highway 2 are much better. Tri-county corridor is excellent. Sled dog race is on corridor west of Iron River. Detour south on trails 22 and 24.

Washburn Valhallers: We still have very good snow cover in the Washburn area and toward Valhalla.  Trails are grooming up nicely and will be another great weekend of riding.

South Shore– Port Wing, Herbster & Cornucopia: All south shore trails will be groomed by Thursday (2/17/2022) and continue to be good to very good!
