Trail Report: Eagle River, Wisconsin – February 28, 2017

Trail Conditions: Early Season
Snow Cover: Snow or slush cover
Date of Report: February 28, 2017
Area Report:

Trails OPEN
Late Riding to Poor Condition

32 degrees at 6:30am with a high of 39 today.  Mix of rain, sleet and snow off and on today.  Not good for the trails.  Sure glad I rode Sunday.  There is snow in the forecast

Trail Boss Brian reports due to weather and trail conditions no grooming.

Not sure where we are headed with the trails.  Vilas County Alliance President has contacted all 11 Clubs for their input.  The 11 Clubs vote as an Alliance whether to keep trails open, temporarily close or close for the season.  Stay tuned.  I will have that report as soon as I have it.

In the meantime if you are riding you will find Adventure Sledding.  Meaning all sort of conditions.  Did not ride yesterday but pretty sure the frozen slush I saw Sunday was mushed up. Snow where trails are under cover.  Icy icy icy.  Please slow down.

For safety here are 4 areas to stay away from:

TRAIL SECTION 10W/13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge is closed due high water conditions. DO NOT ENTER THIS AREA

High water/slush is also present on Trail 3 aka the Manske Swamp. Use extreme caution.

Section of Trail 10E from Bloom Rd to Loon Lake Rd has slush.  Recommend taking City Trail on Tamarack St to Trigs Shell Trail to Bloom Rd.

The barrels have been pulled from both Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trail.  Advise not to ride.  If you do it is at your own risk.

Boy I hope to ride again!
